Samsung Galaxy S9: 9 new features to expect

Where there is smoke there is fire, and the fact that nuggets of info about upcoming Galaxy S9 are already trickling out may come as support for the rumor that Samsung may pull its release forward in order to combat the wider market availability of the iPhone X, whose production is expected to ramp up sufficiently no sooner than next quarter.

While a grandiose change in looks is not expected, given that Samsung just blasted off with the Infinity Display design this year, there will be grand changes under the hood, if the rumor mill and history …

Is the Galaxy S8 a better buy than the iPhone X? Here are some reasons it might be…

So, November is nearly here, and with it comes the great holiday shopping. A good time of the year to get yourself a nice, shiny new smartphone, or get nagged into buying one for somebody else. We kid, we kid.

The iPhone X is about to hit the store shelves in just a couple of weeks, and there’s also this other bezel-less kid on the block — you might have heard of it — the Samsung Galaxy S8. Which one should you buy? Do you splurge the $999 required to get the latest and greatest from Apple, or is the Galaxy S8, which can be found for about $625 on Amazon right now, …

Blind camera comparison results: iPhone 8 Plus vs Galaxy Note 8

Last week, we took two of the most popular phones out there: the Apple iPhone 8 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, in a direct one-to-one camera comparison.
But instead of us telling you what we think about the pictures, we simply took the pictures and asked you to tell us which picture you think looks better.
The idea was simple: everyone has preferences for one brand or another, but in a blind comparison you don’t know which photo comes from which device. It’s the best way to be objective in testing a camera.

Let’s …

Consumer Reports recommends the Samsung Galaxy S7 over the Apple iPhone 8

Non-profit magazine Consumer Reports provides readers with unbiased recommendations. In its latest look at the smartphone industry, CR recommended that its readers purchase the 2016 Samsung Galaxy S7 over the brand spanking new Apple iPhone 8. Yes folks, that is not a typo. And not only did last year’s Galaxy model top the iPhone 8, so did this year’s Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+.

Consumer Reports gave the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8+ each a score of 81. The Apple iPhone 8 and the Galaxy S7 both tied with scores of 80. Despite the tie, the magazine recommended …

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active will be Sammy's first phone to support T-Mobile's new 600MHz Band?

Back in April, T-Mobile spent nearly $8 billion to win 31MHz of 600MHz low-frequency spectrum that was part of an FCC auction. Also known as Band 71, the low frequency airwaves travel farther and penetrate buildings better than higher frequency spectrum. Only one handset, the LG V30, currently is available with support for Band 71. Now, FCC documents reveal which handset will be the first from Samsung to work with the 600MHz spectrum.

A new version of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active (SM-G892U) has been certified by the FCC. This is the rugged version of the Samsung Galaxy S8, better able to …

Samsung adopting Google's ARCore, coming to Galaxy S8 and Note 8

Samsung has partnered with Google to adopt ARCore, Google’s augmented reality platform, and it will bring the experience to its Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and the Galaxy Note 8.
Google announced ARCore earlier this year and it is a rival technology to the already available ARKit on Apple devices. The iPhone 6s and newer iPhones all support the feature and there are already quite a few interesting apps that make use of AI on the iOS platform.
With Samsung joining the Google ARCore camp, developers will now be able to write …

Blind camera comparison: iPhone 8 Plus vs Galaxy Note 8

The Apple iPhone 8 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 have some of the best cameras of all phones, but which one takes better pictures?
Often, our pre-conceptions about a brand name would make us sway our opinion in favor of our preferred brand, but what if we could get rid of our subjective preferences and look at things objectively, without any prejudices?

Blind comparison!

We challenge you to take a look at the photos below captured on the iPhone 8 Plus and the Note 8 and tell us which ones you like …

Galaxy Note 8 "Pro" mode camera tips & tricks: use RAW and manual controls to take gorgeous photos

In this day and age of mass automation and AI-driven experiences, it may seem counterintuitive to rely on manual camera controls on your brand new, shiny, bezel-less, smartphone. I mean, why even bother with adjusting so many variables when you can just point your phone at something, tap a button, and get an arguably good-looking result? Right? Well, there’s actually a good reason dabble in the mighty manual mode. In fact, let me tell you, using manual mode is just like shooting on full “Auto,” only a heck of a lot better!

Let’s take the Galaxy Note 8 for …
