LG G6 finally makes its way to the European market

LG has rather a tough time competing in the premium smartphone marketplace, such is the dominance of Apple and Samsung. In an attempt to break the duopoly on higher-priced, feature-laden handsets, LG recently unveiled the new G6. Over the next few days, consumers in Europe will finally be able to get their paws on it.

As we noted in our initial review of the G6, there’s not much about the device that can be faulted. However, with Samsung’s Galaxy S8 duo breathing down its neck while breaking pre-order records in both firms’ native South Korea, it’s clear that …

Best smartphone cameras compared: Samsung Galaxy S8+ vs iPhone 7 Plus, Galaxy S7 edge, LG G6

What do you call a turtle that’s taking up photography classes? A snapping turtle!
*ba-dum tss*
Yeah, coming up with great puns may not be my strongest skill, but that’s fine. I’m pretty sure you’re not here for the comedy. So let’s get to the point, then. That Samsung Galaxy S8+ – is its camera any good?
Of course it is. Samsung knows how to make a good smartphone camera. But so do Apple and LG. A question much more difficult to unknot is which of these three companies …

TV ad for LG G6 has the new flagship swimming with the fishies

Many of you know that when someone is said to be “swimming with the fishies,” it means that the person has been murdered. More specifically, the murder usually resulted from an execution. LG has just released a new ad for the LG G6 that shows the phone swimming with the fishies, perhaps signifying the manufacturer’s decision to kill off the modular build attempted with last year’s LG G5. Once Motorola and Lenovo launched the Moto Z line, LG could easily see the error of its ways.

But we’re pretty sure that there was no such symbolism in the commercial. Actually, the spot is showing …

LG G6 on Verizon getting its first update with April's security patches for Android

The Verizon LG G6 is receiving an update that contains several improvements, in addition to April’s Android security patches. The handset is still on Android 7.0, but the update weighs in at 473MB.

Verizon’s change log only includes instructions on how to protect the SIM card tray from water damage, and a new notification for the charging port letting you know the LG G6 won’t charge if moisture is detected in the charging port or USB cable. There’s got to be something else going on with the update, but this is all we know.

To get the latest software, …

LG G6 to gain 100 customized apps for its 18:9 display

LG Electronics is planning to increase the number of applications optimized for its 2017 flagship – the G6. The Seoul-based tech giant announced that by next month, its app store will boast 300 apps which will fully support the 18:9 “Full Vision” display of the G6.

At the time of writing, there are about 200 apps which support the unusual aspect ratio on the company’s SmartWorld store, so these numbers suggest that we will see a 50% increase in this particular segment of LG’s digital market.
As Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ …

Beautiful ultra high-res wallpapers, perfect for your Pixel XL, Galaxy S8 and S7, LG G6, LG V20, HTC U Ultra and others

High-resolution, and high-quality wallpapers are not the easiest thing to find, especially if you have as many as 1440 x 2560 pixels to fill with information – as would be the case if your smartphone has a QHD display.

The reasons for that are several. Perhaps most importantly, however, it’s just exceedinly easy for wallpaper repositories to simply upscale lower resolution content to make it appear as if it would fit perfectly on your fancy screen, but the reality is that stretching the image takes a ton from the quality. And that’s not what you want if you’re looking …

Hi-Fi version of the LG G6 with Quad DAC and Dual SIM capabilities surfaces in Singapore

Just the other day, we told you that the LG G6 variant sporting Quad DAC would soon be available in regions outside of Korea. One country that is greeting the device with open arms starting today is Australia. Another country that will be offering this version of LG’s new flagship is Singapore. A couple of images we received today from a PhoneArena reader show the LG G6 with labeling on the back promoting the Quad 32-bit DAC. The other picture shows the Quick Settings screen on the handset, which contains an on/off switch for the Quad DAC feature.

The Quad Digital-to-Analog converter in …

LG G6 with Quad DAC no longer Korea exclusive, will come to Australia later this week

Good news for fans of high quality audio: the Quad DAC LG G6 edition will no longer be limited to Korea only. Well, good news for fans of high quality audio in Australia, at least, as this appears to be the only confirmed non-Korea region to receive this version of the device so far.

The news comes from Ausdroid, who reports that the Hi-Fi edition of the G6 will be sold in a couple of Australian retailers: JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman. The device will be sold for AU$1,199, which is $900 in US currency. That is AU$191 more than the regular device’s price, …

Thus, protecting this screen should be one of your highest priorities once you’re buying a G6.

You don’t have to spend a lot of money to find reliable screen protectors for the LG G6. In fact, you can get some of the best ones (lifetime replacement warranty included) for under $10 – check …

Watch the LG G6 survive a Mouse Trap like adventure and come out unscathed

Remember the game Mouse Trap? The idea was to put together a wacky Rube Goldberg-esque contraption piece by piece, depending on the roll of the dice. This weekend, LG released a video that shows the LG G6 being put through a number of obstacles while certain features appear on screen. It’s an interesting way to show off the durability of the handset, while confirming some of the specs and capabilities of LG’s new flagship phone to consumers.

Some of the features highlighted in the video include the IP68 certification rating which allows the device to be submerged to as deep as nearly …
