Sprint intros free early upgrades for any leased phone, not just iPhones and Galaxies

Sprint just announced that it is giving some love to its subscribers who aren’t participating in the Apple-Samsung duopoly kabuki. The carrier will be extending its phone leasing offers to all handsets in its roster, not only iPhones and Galaxy S line devices. 

This will open up more frequent upgrades to all Sprint phone users, as they will be able to lease any handset with the ability to upgrade from it after one year, just like they could do with, say, the iPhone 7 or Galaxy S7. Confirming a previous rumor, AT&T just announced a rebranding of its GoPhone service, which, from now on, will be known as AT&T Prepaid.

In celebration of the new name, AT&T is offering two months of free wireless service to new prepaid customers. To benefit from the offer, you have to activate and keep a new line for at least 1 year, and you’ll get account credit for the third and twelfth months of service. Apple is jumping in its yearly education discount program by offering free or discounted Beats headphones to teachers and students buying a new iPad Pro and/or MacBook. Purchasing a 10.5-inch or 12.9-inch iPad Pro will either net you a free pair of BeatsX earphones, or a $150 discount on the Solo3 or Powerbeats3. The Solo3 run for around $300, and the Powerbeats3 go for $200, so you’re still getting a very good deal on these.

This free service puts all artworks at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art right in your phone

If you are an art fan or just looking to waste some time on your mobile, doing something that is a lot more sophisticated than, say, chasing Pokémons around, then the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) has something you will truly love.

Apparently, the museum kicked off a service last year that allows you to get on-demand photos of pieces of art from the collection the museum holds. SFMOMA houses more than 35,000 artworks, mostly sculptures, paintings and photographs, all of which could be accessed by sending a text to 572-51.

Samsung lists phone as in stock, but puts it on backorder for the free half of a BOGO deal

Recently we told you about Samsung’s decision to apparently tighten up which phones it would accept on a trade-in deal it has for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+. The original deal required that the trade be in working condition without a cracked or broken display, and be able to hold a charge. That led some to use cheap phones purchased at Walmart as trades.
