Usain Bolt's final race ended with an unexpected injury, but he's still a legend

This wasn’t supposed to be how it ended.

What should have been a triumphant finish to a momentous career ended in injury when Usain Bolt fell to the track in the midst of his last-ever race at the IAAF World Championships in London on Saturday.

Bolt had apparently developed a cramp in his left hamstring just after taking the baton in his anchor leg of the 4×100 relay and was unable to finish.

The United Kingdom went on to win the race, and America and Japan took second and third as Bolt’s teammates helped him limp off of the track. Read more…

Moto X4 official press images surface along with final specs

After numerous leaks these past few weeks, we now finally have on our hands the first official press images of the Moto X4, and they are accompanied by the supposed final specs for the phone as well.

The Moto X4, which is the first new entry in the X-series since 2015, will sport a 5.2” 1080p display and it will come in two colors only—Sterling Blue and Super Black (pictured above)—which some of you may find a tad disappointing, considering the supposedly official Moto X4 render in gold that was leaked a couple of days ago.

Under the hood, the Moto X4 will …

Final version of Fitbit smartwatch leaks in press renders

Fitbit acquired two smartwatch companies before launching a product of its own: Pebble and Vector Watch. Although a new Fitbit smartwatch was supposed to make its debut in Q2, the company announced the wearable device is on track for a Q4 release, just in time for the holiday shopping season.

A handful of pictures showing the upcoming Fitbit smartwatch leaked out back in May, so if you’ve seen those images, then you won’t be surprised by those that surfaced today.

The folks over at Wareable published a few press renders of the Fitbit smartwatch showing the …

Photos claim to show final design of the Moto X4 dual-camera setup

The unthinkable happened a couple of days ago when reliable source Evan Blass (@evleaks) admitted that the render he revealed last month as the camera design for the Moto X4, was not the final design. But Blass did the right thing and posted an image that supposedly does show the final version of the rear-facing dual camera setup. The final version of the camera has the dual LED flash units on the top of the module; the original image had the flash units on the bottom.

Similar to the way the dual camera set-up has been deployed on the Motorola Moto Z2 Force, one of the two sensors will take …

Which of these OnePlus 5 prototypes would you rather have made it to be the final product?

It’s no secret that phone manufacturers go through lots of prototypes and test a lot of options before deciding on a final design for a product. OnePlus, aspiring to be a serious and competitive phone slinger, naturally did the same. Co-founder Carl Pei said that the OnePlus 5 went through 100 different prototypes.

We saw some of them thanks to an exclusive report by The Verge. The writers were shown a bunch of OnePlus 5 designs that didn’t make it to be the final product, and took a photo to show them to the world.

We can see a lot of different ideas woven in every phone on that …

Final ruling from arbitration panel awards BlackBerry $940 million from Qualcomm

Last month, we told you that an arbitration panel had awarded BlackBerry a preliminary amount of $814.9 million from Qualcomm to resolve a dispute over royalties. BlackBerry claimed that Qualcomm failed to cap the amount of royalties that it was paying based on an agreement both sides shook hands over back in 2010. Back then, BlackBerry was still quite a relevant company in the smartphone industry, just one year removed from its peak as King of the Smartphone world. At the time, everyone expected BlackBerry’s sales to continue to rise including both Qualcomm and BlackBerry itself.

As a result, …

Android O may get support for custom themes in the final release

The final release of Android O may bring about a feature that’s long been a staple of custom ROMs and a favorite among modders – support for custom themes. Seeing as how this has been one of the major incentives to get your phone rooted in the past, it only makes sense that Google finally implements this functionality into Android. Nothing is set in stone at this point, so don’t get your hopes too high, but we noticed an interesting new option in the “Display” settings page in Android O Developer Preview 2 on the Pixel, which wasn’t there before. It’s called “Device …

Final Fantasy I, II and III are 50% off on App Store until May 7

As part of the Japanese holidays known as the Golden Week, three of Square Enix’s mobile games in the Final Fantasy franchise are now on sale for 50% off.

It’s also worth mentioning that while Final Fantasy VI is 50% off as well, this one is part of a sale that commemorates a Final …

So it looks like Winter's preparing one final insult for the East Coast

TwitterFacebook

After basking in 70-degree temperatures in February, residents of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast are in for one heck of a rude awakening early this coming week, as a powerful storm takes shape off the East Coast.

While there is still considerable uncertainty in the details a little over two days in advance, it’s clear that areas from Philadelphia to Boston stand a decent chance of getting walloped with heavy snow, strong winds, coastal flooding and possibly, for a time anyway, heavy rain.

Whether or not the nation’s capital, which has had a measly couple of inches of snow so far this season, sees much from this event is unclear, as is exactly how long the storm lasts.  Read more…
