While the funeral for Stephen Hawking was taking place in Cambridge, UK on Saturday, the legendary scientist’s final gift was also well underway — a free Easter lunch to help hungry people in the city.

The meal was prepared by volunteers from the charity FoodCycle, who regularly supply free meals for those in poverty using surplus food.

On Saturday the food was provided by Hawking’s family.

Lady Gaga has cancelled the rest of the Joanne World Tour due to “severe pain,” according to a statement tweeted on Saturday.

Render of the Alcatel 5's final design appears for your viewing pleasure

Thanks to a render tweeted by the inimitable Evan Blass, we can now have a look-see at what is supposed to be the final design of the Alcatel 5 flagship phone. Back in November, Blass included a render of the Alcatel 5 along with images of five other Alcatel handsets. The latest render released today looks very similar to the one posted two months ago. The phone will feature an aspect ratio of 18:9 and it has a very thin bottom bezel. That leaves no room for a fingerprint scanner, so the latter is placed on back.

Last month, the phone was certified by the FCC, revealing dual front-facing …

Google releases final preview of Android 8.1 Oreo for select Pixel and Nexus devices

While many consumers are still waiting to receive Android 8.0 Oreo, only a few will soon be able to update to a much newer version – Android 8.1 Oreo. Google confirmed a few more important new features will be made available along with Android 8.1, but the update will be available to Pixel and Nexus devices only, and probably for quite a long time.

Obviously, Google won’t prevent any smartphone company to push the update, but considering these companies are still struggling to update their products to Android 8.0 Oreo, it’s safe to assume it will take much longer …

Apple is ordered to pay VirnetX a final judgment of $440 million for patent infringement

Over the years, Apple and VirnetX have battled each other in court over patents used by Apple to produce iOS features like FaceTime and iMessage. The legal battle began in 2010 when IP Holding Company (some would say patent troll) VirnetX accused Apple of using its patents without licensing them. Over the years, more iPhone models were added to the complaint and last year a jury awarded VirnetX $302.4 million.

Today, VirnetX announced that on September 29th, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Tyler Division entered a Final Judgment in relation to post-trial …
