Lawsuit claims that Google MVNO Project Fi charges for Wi-Fi usage

According to a lawsuit filed in San Jose district court in Northern California by Gordon Beecher, Google’s Project Fi hybrid MVNO has been charging subscribers for using Wi-Fi. The MVNO allows its subscribers to make calls and consume data using Wi-Fi hotspots. When out of range of these hotspots, subscribers can connect in the U.S. with the Sprint, T-Mobile or U.S. Cellular 4G LTE networks. The suit charges Google with unfair business practices, false advertising in violation of California law, and breach of contract.

According to Beecher’s complaint, which is seeking certification from …

Great Deal: Motorola Moto X4 now costs just $249 on Google's Project Fi

Released in the US back in September, the mid-range Motorola

and by Google via its Project Fi MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator). As of
this week, the Moto X4 can be purchased for only $249 if you’re getting it via
Project Fi before February 14.

According to Google, to get a Moto X4 for just $249, you’ll

A tweet disseminated today by Project Fi states that the smart reply feature is rolling out to compatible …

Project Fi subscribers with a bad Nexus 5X are receiving the Moto X4 Android One as a replacement

Google’s hybrid MVNO Project Fi used to offer the Nexus 5X to its subscribers. However, a nasty bug led several units to bootloop, frustrating owners of those models that suffer with this affliction. Project Fi subscribers with a faulty Nexus 5X and the Device Protection Plan (which cost just $5 a month) were first given a replacement unit. Then, when Google ran out of inventory of replacement units, it offered subscribers turning in their bad phone just $100 in Google Store Credit, or a $53 check . Considering that Project Fi subscribers paid $350 for the Nexus 5X, those two options did not seem …

Moto X4 on Project Fi starts getting Android 8.0 Oreo update

Despite being released in October, after Google released Android 8.0 Oreo, Motorola’s Moto X4 smartphone was launched with Android 7.1 Nougat on board. However, the US-based handset maker promised an Android Oreo update will be provided soon afterward.

Although it took Motorola more than two months to keep its promise, Android Oreo for Moto X4 on Project Fi is here, so if you’ve bought that device, you should expect an update to arrive any day now.

The OTA (over the air) roll-out has already begun and the update weighs in at a little bit over 1GB, so make sure you have enough storage …

Motorola Moto X4 to be available on Google's Project Fi later this year

Motorola Mobility is expected to unveil a Moto X4 smartphone later this year. While we still don’t know exactly when the device should be officially announced, we now have some news about it.

According to Venture Beat, the Moto X4 will be released on Google’s Project Fi in the fourth quarter of the year – thus sometime in October, November, or December.
