iOS users, rejoice! Waze's Spotify integration is no longer an Android-only feature

Looking back at all the new features Waze added to its mobile app, we can safely say that this is an iOS-first app. Usually, it takes up to several months until Android users get to benefit from the same new features that Waze users on iOS are treated with, but there are exceptions to the rule.

One of these exceptions is Spotify integration, a feature that was added by Waze back in March but only on Android devices. Well, it looks like the exclusivity time is over and iOS users will get to use Spotify integration very soon as well.

The developers have just announced that the integrated …

This might be the biggest Google Pixel 2 feature

The Google Pixel 2 series will be officially unveiled on October 4th, and while rumors say that a bezel-less Pixel 2 is not likely to happen, there might be one killer feature that will make the phone stand out from all the rest: Google Lens.
Just a few days ago, Google started rolling out a new version of its popular Google Photos app and in the code, developers found a fully functioning Google Lens integration under cover within that update that gave the camera some impressive super powers. Developers were quickly all over this new feature, …

The only new feature included …

Facebook is testing the waters with a new "Instant Videos" feature

We’ve known for a while that Facebook is aiming to become a “video-first” platform in the future, and it’s already making the first steps. TechCrunch reports that an experimental feature called “Instant Videos” has gone live for some users on mobile.

Instant Videos is similar to Facebook’s Instant Articles, in that it aims to load content faster, and works similarly to how Spotify and other music streaming services cache songs that you’ve played for offline listening. What Instant Videos does, is that it downloads, or caches, videos to your device …

WSJ: No Touch ID for iPhone 8, but a new facial-recognition feature might be embedded

We’re less than a week away from Apple’s big launch event and we’re still overwhelmed by the sheer number leaks that supposedly depict one or more of the three iPhones that are expected to be unveiled on September 12.

Wall Street Journal has it from trusted sources that Apple dropped the idea of including a fingerprint sensor in the new OLED display. After deciding to do away with the physical home button, it tried to put the Touch ID function in the display.

Unfortunately, the attempt proved more difficult than Apple initially thought, …

Google Search app for iOS is updated with Trending Searches feature

Trending Searches is a new feature that is coming to the iOS version of the Google Search app as part of an update that was pushed out yesterday. As the name suggests, Trending Searches will now show you search results that are “trending around you.” The app is also showing answers to inquiries as you type. This means that you can gather information about your question before you even tap the search bar.

Trending Searches was added to the Android OS last year and the Google Search forum was filled with those who didn’t like it because the content it provided had nothing to do with the information …

Which is your favorite feature of the Galaxy Note series?

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is up for pre-orders already and, with everything we know about the device, it’s definitely a heavy-hitter. Well, that’s sort of a running themse for the Note devices so far — they usually come some months after the Galaxy S flagship for the year and are either packed with slightly better hardware, have more software features, or both. Of course, we also have the Samsung S Pen stylus, which is still pretty much uncontested by rival smartphones.

But it’s the Note’s top-shelf features that actually make it a niche smartphone — it came out …

Update to Google Maps allows Oreo's Picture-in-Picture feature to work on the app

One of the most anticipated features on Android 8.0 is Picture-in-Picture. This allows you to watch videos in a “floating window” while you have an app open. In the case of Google Maps, an update to version 9.60 allows you to watch the map in a separate PiP window while in navigation mode. The previous update to Google Maps added support to Picture-in-Picture, but there were issues with the rendering and the whole thing just didn’t work out. With the latest update, the feature works perfectly. Of course, you have to be using a device that is powered by Android Oreo for this to work.

The …

You can change the timing for YouTube's double-tap to seek feature, here's how (iOS & Android guide)

For a few months now, the mobile version of the YouTube app on either iOS or Android has allowed mobile users to easily advance or rewind videos by double-tapping the video window. An inherently useful trick, it makes video navigation as easy as it gets – instead of having to deal with the pesky tiny seek bar, people can simply take advantage of the touch screens at our fingertips.
By default, the YouTube app will advance or rewind the video you’re watching by 10 seconds. That’s fine for most uses, and it feels like a nice middle ground between “too little” …
