Who ends up replacing Alexa? The complete Super Bowl ad is right here!

Last month, we showed you a teaser for Amazon’s Super Bowl ad. AT&T ends 10-month union standoff with 10% pay rise for reps, and more perks

Тhe Communications Workers of America finally ended their siege of AT&T after a 10-month nuclear standoff that saw wireless store employees going out on a strike back in May. The CWA union has about half of the AT&T workforce in its ranks, and the deal will benefit more than 21,000 of its support and store reps.

The agreement will ring in a 10.1% pay rise over the period of four years, but the better part is that AT&T will shift its compensation emphasis from commissions to the base pay, which should be a sigh of relief for salespeople in the stores. Furthermore, …

Bizarre chapter in Apple iPhone history ends with iOS 11.2 update

One of the most bizarre chapters in the history of the Apple iPhone thankfully came to an end this morning when Apple pushed out iOS 11.2. A strange bug related to the date was causing iPhone units running iOS 11.1.2 to crash in a continuous loop. Setting off the loop were apps sending out local notifications with repeating reminders. That included several meditation apps such as Headspace or Calm.

Some had pushed the date on their iPhone back a few days, which reportedly was Apple’s initial suggestion for a quick workaround. However, this disabled several apps including Twitter. But all …

'Outlander' Season 3 premiere finally reveals how Jamie and Black Jack's story ends

Spoiler warning: This recap contains plot details for Outlander Season 3, episode 1, titled “The Battle Joined.”

Try as Jamie Fraser might, he just can’t seem to die.

He enters the Battle of Culloden devastated by the reality of having to say goodbye to his wife and unborn child, but also assured of their safety, having sent them (and the rest of his Lallybroch men) out of harm’s way before the battle begins.

That leaves his way clear to die a heroic (if unnecessary) death among his countrymen, knowing the defeat that awaits them thanks to Charles Stuart’s hubris. But even after one final, bloody, surreal showdown with Black Jack Randall, death refuses to come for our noble hero.  Read more…

White supremacist rally ends early in Boston as counter-protesters show up in huge numbers

A few dozen attendees showed up for Saturday’s planned “free speech” rally in Boston. But counter-protesters showed up in the thousands.

Per local news reports, over 10,000 people gathered at Boston Commons to protest the right-wing gathering, which quickly fell apart after it became clear the planned speaking schedule would not come to fruition.

In fact, police were seen taking down rally flags and decor before 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. (The rally was scheduled for 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.) Whoops!

At around the same time, Twitter was flooded with images from the counter-protest. In one clip, crowds can be heard chanting “Not in Boston” — a reference to last week’s violence in Charlottesville, Virginia. Read more…

Google has just confirmed that the Android Nougat Beta Program is complete and that no new builds will be pushed to Pixel and Nexus devices in the future. But that doesn’t mean that your Google phone won’t receive any major OS update this year if not too old.

The search giant is already working hard to release the second Android O developer preview, which is expected to hit compatible Nexus and Pixel devices sometime in mid-May.

The closure the Android Nougat Beta Program marks beginning of a new chapter for Pixel and Nexus users, as Google announced that …

Canalys: Huawei ends Oppo's two quarter reign as China's top smartphone manufacturer

Analytical firm Canalys says that during the first quarter of this year, Huawei was the top smartphone manufacturer in China. That ended Oppo’s two quarter reign at the top. Still, it was a photo finish at the wire. From January through March, Huawei (pronounced “Wah-weigh”) shipped 21 million handsets in China resulting in a market share of 18% for the company. Oppo was right behind as it delivered a bit under 20 million units.

With shipments in the ballpark of 17 million for the first quarter, Vivo was in third place. Those three smartphone producers together accounted for half of all …
