Samsung DeX Pad Review

Last year, we saw Samsung tackling the whole “use your phone as a PC” concept for the first time. By attaching a Galaxy S8 flagship phone to the special Samsung DeX Station and plugging in a monitor, mouse, and keyboard, one was able to get a pretty convincing basic desktop experience driven by their phone’s processing power.

Now, we get a new kind of DeX – the DeX Pad. Meant as a successor to last year’s model, the Pad has a slightly different form factor which allows access to the phone’s headphone jack and is specifically designed to complement the new touchpad …

Deal: All Samsung Galaxy S9 models now come with a free Dex Pad

Since launching the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ back in March, Samsung included the two new flagship smartphones in various promotional offers. The very latest offer that you should know about – available only in the US – allows buyers of the S9 or S9+ to receive a free Samsung Dex Pad.
You can get a free Dex Pad regardless of what Galaxy S9 or S9+ you want to buy. This means that both unlocked, and carrier versions of the phones are included in the deal. However, your purchase needs to be made via Samsung’s official website – see the source link below. Samsung …

Samsung DeX Pad now available for pre-order in the US for $99.99

If you already own one of Samsung’s new flagships, the Galaxy S9 or S9+, you can now pre-order the DeX Pad, an accessory unveiled back in February. The new Dex Pad won’t come cheap, so if you want one, you have to come up with $99.99 upfront.

According to Samsung, all pre-orders will ship in the week of May 13, so everyone should get their accessories in mid-May. Also, the handset maker offers free shipping on all orders, so you won’t have to pay more than 100 bucks.

The Samsung DeX Pad comes with Fast Charge wall charger, USB-C cable, and HDMI cable. Basically, everything you’ll …

See all the official Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ accessories (cases, new DeX and wireless chargers)!

Hot on the heels of the Galaxy S9/S9+ announcement, we got our first look at the official Samsung accessories that will be available for the two flagships at launch.

There’s a bunch of protective cases available, of different varieties, such as ones with a kickstand built-in, flip cases, and, of course, everyone’s favorite alcantara and hyperknit protective backs. One notable omission is the 2Piece type of cases that “graced” both the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 last year, but we’re sure nobody’s gonna miss those. There’s also the new DeX, and the new …

Unannounced Samsung DeX Pad leaks out, brings a Galaxy S9 with it

Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and S9+ (both scheduled to be announced on February 25 at MWC 2018) will be released alongside various new accessories. Among these, Samsung will launch a DeX Pad – an accessory that seemingly takes last year’s DeX Station (pictured above) to a new level.
Similar to the DeX Station, the Samsung DeX Pad will let you dock your Galaxy phone, and connect it to an external monitor and other peripherals, like a keyboard or a mouse, basically turning the handset into a PC of some sorts. However, the upcoming DeX Pad reportedly also allows you to …

It's true, Samsung Galaxy S9 will launch with the new DeX Pad

We reported last month that Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S9 will come with a brand new Dex Pad. Obviously, customers will be able to purchase the accessory separately, but we can’t help but wonder whether or not Samsung and/or some retailer won’t run some promotions that will offer the Galaxy S9 bundled with the DeX Pad.

In any case, it looks like that rumor was pretty accurate since we’ve just learned that Samsung trademarked the DeX Pad name in Europe. Filed on December 29, the application comes in time for a Mobile World Congress (MWC) reveal …

Samsung disables 3rd party DeX support in Galaxy S8's fourth Android Oreo beta

The Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ received their fourth Android 8.0 Oreo beta update yesterday, and unfortunately that comes with a downside. Samsung has decided to block the use of 3rd party DeX docks with their phones.

Samsung DeX is a powerful feature that allows Galaxy S8/S8+ owners to plug their phones into a dock and get a desktop experience by connecting the dock to a monitor. While Samsung’s proprietary dock costs upwards of $150, some clever users have found workarounds for this. One XDA Developer user was able to turn their MacBook into a DeX dock, …

Galaxy S9 rumored to launch with refreshed DeX dock

When the Samsung Galaxy S8 launched in April 2017, Samsung also launched the first generation of Samsung DeX. With DeX, users are able to plug their compatible Galaxy smartphone (S8, S8+, or Note 8) into the dock, then connect a display, mouse, and keyboard to create a powerful workstation. As smartphones become more powerful, they will be able to take on heavier workloads, and as they are becoming more expensive, who is to say that they should not take a more prominent role in our day-to-day computing?

Alongside the expected launch of the Samsung Galaxy …

Samsung offers a free Gear VR or DeX Station with any Galaxy S8 or Note 8 purchase

If you plan to buy a high-end Samsung smartphone, there are plenty of offers that you can take advantage of, not to mention that you’ll most certainly be getting better deals on Black Friday if you wait until the end of the month.

Samsung is now running a promotion that would allow customers who purchase one of its 2017 flagships to get some free stuff in the process. The deal is only available in the United States via Samsung’s online store.

While the South Korean company does mention that this is a limited time offer, it doesn’t say when it will end. In …

Samsung's first video ad for DeX is up: showcases Galaxy S8's potential in mobile productivity

With the Galaxy S8, Samsung released a brand-new DeX station — a dock for your phone, which can connect to a monitor, a keyboard, and mouse and give you a quasi-desktop productivity. The marketing tagline for it is “Leave you laptop behind”, but let’s be honest — it depends on what type of work you are planning to do.

But that’s not to say that DeX is entirely useless. Samsung has finally decided to shine a spotlight on this rather useful Galaxy S8 feature with a nicely-made video ad for it. The clip shows a journalist who travels to a faraway place to report on… …
