Apple faces 32 class action lawsuits for throttling iPhone CPUs without customer knowledge

Yes, Apple apologized for throttling the CPU speed on the Apple iPhone 6 and newer models. As you might know by now, this was done because the company feared that the weaker batteries on some iPhone handsets wouldn’t be able to sustain a charge while handling complex tasks. As a result, some of the affected iPhone units could shut down, forcing owners to attempt a quick re-boot.

Even though many of Apple’s customers have sipped the apple-flavored Kool Aid, there still was a backlash over the slowing of these iPhone models. It wasn’t so much the act that upset the faithful, although no one …

Two research firms say T-Mobile was tops in customer satisfaction throughout 2017; Verizon was next

Perhaps with T-Mobile CEO John Legere constantly talking about ways to eradicate customer’s “pain points,” it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the nation’s third largest carrier finished on top for Overall Customer Satisfaction in 2017 based on surveys taken by HarrisX Mobile Insights and YouGov BrandIndex. Both research firms state that T-Mobile customers were more satisfied than those subscribed to rivals like Verizon, AT&T and Sprint, all throughout 2017.

Besides offering extras like free Netflix for those with two or more T-Mobile One lines, the carrier gives away several goodies …

Report: Apple iPhone X generates high customer satisfaction ratings

The Apple iPhone X has turned out to be a big winner for Apple. Buyers of the tenth anniversary model say that they are very satisfied with the phone, although most cite two particular features for putting a smile on their faces. One is the TrueDepth Camera, and the other is facial recognition system Face ID. Over the years, Apple has brought new innovations to the smartphone market with the App Store in 2008, FaceTime in 2010 and Siri in 2011 to name just a few. If you’re wondering why we didn’t mention 2013’s Touch ID, which debuted on the Apple iPhone 5s, that is because the Motorola Atrix 4G …

MetroPCS customer jailed after pre-paid carrier's employee spots child porn on phone

55-year old Orlando Chang figured he had a fairly quiet day ahead. He planned on visiting a nearby MetroPCS store to trade in his current smartphone for a new model. Little did he know that by the end of the day, he would find himself arrested on 11 counts of possession of child pornography. The arrest warrant explained how Chang popped into a MetroPCS store in Coral Gables, seeking to swap his old handset for a new one.

The MetroPCS employee who was assigned the task of moving over the contacts and photos from Chang’s old handset to his new one made a rather startling discovery. …

Walmart customer irate after his iPhone 6 order for Black Friday is cancelled

What good is a Black Friday ad if all of the products being advertised are already sold out? That is what Walmart shoppers were complaining about after the discounter’s Black Friday stock was sold out on Thanksgiving. And that led to numerous tweets from very angry consumers accusing  the company of taking part in a bait and switch campaign. Apparently some well priced electronics were out of stock Friday morning as were some video games and cheaply priced clothing.

One customer ordered a pair of Apple iPhone 6 handsets for his twins at midnight Friday. At 7pm, he received a  message …

Best Buy stops selling overpriced iPhone X units after customer backlash

Best Buy announced last week that it will sell the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus devices at a higher price, but didn’t exactly specify why. Customers who would buy either the three Apple smartphones mentioned would be charged an extra $100 when paying the full price upfront.

Well, that’s not the case anymore since Best Buy announced that it had to halt the sales of iPhone X and iPhone 8 after customers complained about the $100 premium charge. However, the US retailers continue to sell Apple’s iPhones, but only via carrier installment plans.

In a short …

Following customer backlash, Virgin Mobile will continue to sell Android phones until fall 2018

Virgin Mobile, Sprint’s pre-paid carrier, announced back in June that it will become an iPhone-only network operator. Thanks to a partnership with Apple, Virgin Mobile will start selling nothing but iPhones and debut a completely new plan – Inner Circle, which offers unlimited data for $50 a month.

To sweeten the deal, the pre-paid carrier announced two months later that it will start to offer a year of unlimited deal for $1 to all customers who activate their own iPhone and transfer the existing number to the Inner Circle plan.

Well, it appears that Virgin …

TSMC is building a $20 billion facility to keep Apple as a customer

The Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company might not exactly be a household name, but it is one of the bigger players in smartphone component manufacturing. While companies like Qualcomm, MediaTek and Apple design their own chipsets, TSMC is the one that actually manufactures them.

But there are other players in the field, too — Samsung Semiconductor and Intel are two of the bigger ones — which necessitates the near-constant need to improve and innovate upon the manufacturing process. Thus, TSMC has already laid out its roadmap all …

Former Verizon subscribers made up the largest percentage of its rivals recent customer additions

During the second quarter of this year, Verizon made the biggest contribution to its rival carriers in the form of recently added customers. Based on data from Cowen and Company Equity Research, more customers from Verizon left to switch to another operator than any other U.S. based wireless carrier. Cowen says that this indicates a more competitive market in the wireless industry. It also suggests that consumers aren’t willing anymore to shell out more money for a premium wireless experience now that the difference between carriers is fading.

Cowen analyst Colby Synesael blames this on …
