Possible beefed up Samsung Galaxy J8 variant includes more RAM, Snapdragon CPU

Samsung is expected to unveil another set of Galaxy J smartphones soon, but we already have some information about at least two unannounced models. The first one, a certain Samsung Galaxy J8 popped up at Geekbench early this month with an Exynos 7870 processor and 3GB RAM.

Another Galaxy J smartphone has just been spotted at Geekbench and judging by the model number it seems to be an improved version of that one that we mentioned earlier, the Galaxy J8.

Apple explains CPU throttling to Canadian government, denies planned obsolescence

Apple has already explained to its customers why it throttled the CPU on several older units. Back in December, when it was discovered that certain iPhone models were set by Apple to run slower, the company explained that the batteries in these units were getting weaker and could not keep the phone running while working on certain complex tasks. Apple explained that it was not throttling CPU speeds as a way to force iPhone users to buy the latest models.

What ticked off iPhone users was that Apple had slipped in the software allowing it to throttle these handsets, with the update to iOS …

Alleged Nokia 7 Plus leaked specs include Snapdragon 660 CPU, dual-lens Zeiss camera

Finnish company HMD Global is supposed to bring quite a few nice surprises at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) trade fair. Aside from the new Nokia-branded flagship, an incredibly powerful mid-range smartphone could be unveiled as well – the improved version of the Nokia 7.

Since Nokia 7 is exclusive to China, the new model that’s expected to go global soon after unveil is a nice addition to HMD’s portfolio of Android smartphones. We’ve been reporting before about the Nokia 7 Plus, but this is the first time we have almost complete details about its specs.

Apparently, the Nokia …

New Nokia 7 model with better CPU and Android Oreo may be launched soon

Nokia 7 is one of the smartphones launched by HMD that are exclusive to China. However, rumor has it, the Finnish handset maker plans to release the Nokia 7 (or the Nokia 6 2018) in the United States in the coming months.

The phones HMD will launch in the US will feature support for major carriers in the country, but it’s unlikely they will support CDMA networks. Moreover, HMD may introduce or remove specific features to make its products compliant (and competitive) with the US market.

Recently, an improved version of the Nokia 7 was spotted at Geekbench, a benchmark tool with an …

The rugged LG X4+ goes official with Snapdragon 425 CPU, LG Pay support

Despite the fact that LG said it will lay low for a while when it comes to smartphones, the South Korean company continues to introduce new products. However, it’s almost certain that we won’t be seeing another LG flagship for at least a few months.

That being said, it looks like LG has just introduced a middle-class smartphone on its home turf: the X4+. The smartphone will be available for purchase at all three major carriers in the country for about $280 outright.

The X4+ comes with Android 7.0 Nougat on board, but it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, coupled with …

Samsung reportedly working on a Chrome OS tablet with high-end CPU and camera

Samsung is reportedly hard at work on a new Surface-style, detachable tablet, codenamed “Nautilus”, which will be powered by Google’s Chrome OS. What’s more interesting, is that Samsung is apparently not aiming for the high-end, not holding back in the hardware department, even when it comes to the camera. That’s interesting, considering how Chromebooks have never had great cameras (not that anyone’s complaining).
According to Engadget, “Nautilus” will be powered by a 7th gen Intel Core CPU, much like the competition from Microsoft, and will also employ a Sony IMX258 …
