Tablet sales drop for the 12th consecutive quarter from July through September


Shipments of tablets declined 5.4% in the third quarter on a year-over-year basis, according to the latest data from IDC. That marks the 12th consecutive quarter of declining shipments for the sector. 40 million units were shipped during the three months that ended on the last day of September. That compares with the 42.3 million slates that were delivered during the third quarter of 2016.

Apple is the most valuable brand globally for the fifth consecutive year

For the fifth consecutive year, consultant Interbrand has named Apple the most valuable brand on the planet. The value of the brand is $184 billion, according to the latest report, which is up 3% over last year’s figure. Some of Apple’s rivals are in the top ten with Google in second place. The Alphabet subsidiary has a brand worth $141.7 billion, 6% higher than the 2016 valuation.

Lenovo's foldable tablet makes a second consecutive visit to Tech World

You might remember how Lenovo grabbed the attention of the tech world on June 9th last year during the company’s Tech World  gathering. YouTuber Meghan McCarthy displayed a bendable phone that was folded into a contraption that she wore around her wrist. Apple is the most admired company in the world for the tenth consecutive year

For the tenth consecutive year, Apple has been named the most admired company in the world. The honor that was bestowed on the tech titan is based on the opinions of 3,800 executives, directors, analysts and experts. Rounding out the top five are Amazon, Starbucks, Berkshire Hathaway, and Disney. Other tech firms in the top ten include Facebook and Microsoft.
