Citi analysts say that there's a 4-in-10 chance that Apple buys Netflix

Apple is sitting with a vault so full of money that even Scrooge McDuck is jealous. Every now and then, Apple uses some of this money to make a small acquisition. For example, the company recently took $400 million out of petty cash to buy music discovery app Shazam. The largest acquisition that Apple has made by itself is the $3 billion it spent to purchase Beats Audio. But if a pair of Citi analysts are correct, there is a chance that Apple will top that record by a factor of approximately 34.

According to Citi analysts Jim Suva and Asiya Merchant, there is a 40% possibility that Apple …

Deal: Perhaps your last chance to score an LTE-ready Wear24 smartwatch for just $80

Verizon didn’t seem to like its own smartwatch, otherwise, we can’t explain why the carrier discontinued the Wear24 four months after it went on sale. Initially launched for $350, the price for the Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch quickly dropped to unbelievable values.

In the last two months, several retailers sold the LTE-ready Wear24 for just $80, nearly 80% less than the original price. If you missed those deals, you have one more chance to score a good deal if you really want an Android Wear smartwatch.

Up on eBay, a retailer is selling the Wear24 for $79.97 …

Chance the Rapper wants this holiday song to make him the Mariah Carey of Thanksgiving

In the spirit of giving, Chance the Rapper wants to make a truckload of money from a hit holiday song. Won’t you please help him?

In his first act as the host of Saturday Night Live, Chance dedicated a new song to the “outcasts and weirdos” in every family this holiday season — like Leslie Jones’ Aunt Shevonne, whose purse gun makes everyone uncomfortable.

Like the best SNL monologue songs, this one involves just about the full cast. Chance also decided to throw in some live turkeys, to show he’s not taking this lightly.

You’ll help Chance make millions of dollars off of this one song about a holiday, won’t you? Read more…

Chance the Rapper performs hilarious song on 'SNL' begging President Obama to return

“This time of year I get thankful baby, thankful for you. But now you’re gone and I don’t know what to do.”

What an emotional love song. A tribute to a great relationship after a bad breakup. Some girl somewhere is going to be really sorry she ended things with De-Von-Tré, the hot new combo comprised of SNL’s Kenan Thompson, Chris Redd, and guest host Chance the Rapper.

“So come back, Barack.”

Or, what? Yeah.

The world is on the verge of nuclear war, and former president Barack Obama is out here living his Best Life. We’re here crying ourselves to sleep, and he’s water skiing and showing us how in love with Michelle he is, and everything sucks. Read more…

So, given the chance, would you buy the resurrected Samsung Galaxy Note FE?

So much noise for a phone that was considered dead, wouldn’t you say? Yeah, we are talking about the Galaxy Note 7. A handset that tripped on launch not once but twice and Samsung pulled the plug on the entire thing before any more embarrassing situations occurred. However, in recent months, we’ve been hearing that the Note 7 is getting its 3rd stab at being a phone that actually exists. Now called the Note FE (fan edition), it comes with a slightly smaller battery, but every bit as much swag as before.

Now, we’ve asked you this before, when not much was known about the device, and all we …

Do you think a newcomer stands a chance against the Apple-Samsung duopoly?

Love it or hate it, the flagship phone market is increasingly becoming a playground for two. Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy S line are duking it out in the pit on a regular basis with varied success, barely leaving a space for the other fighters. There is a good reason for that – both are gigantic companies that offer unique propositions that are hard to replicate. Apple has the aura of the richest, most successful company in history with its design, performance and brand recognition, while Samsung’s vertical integration of in-house flexible OLED panels, chipsets and memory, …

Michelle Obama helps make Chance the Rapper's BET Humanitarian Award historic

The BET Awards featured a surprise guest on Sunday: Michelle Obama. And she taped a special message for none other than Chance the Rapper.

The occasion for the visit from the former first lady was Chance’s acceptance of the BET Humanitarian Award.

Michelle and Barack Obama both called Chicago home before moving to the White House, which explains why Michelle was able to reveal to the audience that her family knew the Chicago rapper since he was “a wee little baby rapper.”

Not only is Chance now the youngest recipient of the award, he delivered a pretty damn good speech for a 24-year-old rising star.  Read more…

Chance the Rapper covers Outkast, Snoop at Bonnaroo festival

Rap music has made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but you really know the genre is a solid staple of the American songbook when new rappers like Chance the Rapper start doing covers of your favorites.

Chance used the stage at the annual Bonnaroo music festival this weekend to pay tribute to Outkast with his own version of 2003’s hit song “Hey Ya!” But before that, Chance took the Manchester, Tennessee, audience even further back with his own rendition of the Dr. Dre and Snoop song “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang” from 1992.

Your old school hip-hop karaoke taste is no longer edgy or unique, Chance is reminding us all that these are the new classics, and they still sound pretty damn good.  Read more…

Analyst says there is a 40% chance that Apple buys Netflix

Sitting on a cash pile of $256 billion might make Apple CEO Tim Cook uneasy. Apple shareholders are going to want to see that cash hoard reduced and the money put to work. Apple has already spent $211.2 billion out of an authorized $250 billion share buyback program. It has added another $50 billion to the program, hiking the amount to $300 billion. Last quarter, Apple returned over $10 billion to Apple investors in the form of a $3.2 billion dividend and $7 billion in stock repurchases.

Some big time fund managers want Apple to use its cash to make a significant acquisition. In a note sent …
