Unannounced Samsung DeX Pad leaks out, brings a Galaxy S9 with it

Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and S9+ (both scheduled to be announced on February 25 at MWC 2018) will be released alongside various new accessories. Among these, Samsung will launch a DeX Pad – an accessory that seemingly takes last year’s DeX Station (pictured above) to a new level.
Similar to the DeX Station, the Samsung DeX Pad will let you dock your Galaxy phone, and connect it to an external monitor and other peripherals, like a keyboard or a mouse, basically turning the handset into a PC of some sorts. However, the upcoming DeX Pad reportedly also allows you to …

Honor 9 Lite brings 5.65" Full View display and dual camera kits to the masses

Whew, finally a budget handset with the trendy 2:1 aspect ratio screen that is smaller than 6 inches! We kid, but there is a whole lot of unfulfilled demand for phones with elongated bodies and thin top and bottom bezel, aka the Full View/Vision and Infinity displays of this world that aren’t of the 5.99″ and up variety.
Enter the Honor 9 Lite that is escaping its Asian confines today to arrive in Germany, Italy, France, Spain and United Kingdom at a very affordable EUR 229 price. The handset sports a 5.65″ Full View FHD+ screen, meaning it has slimmed-down …

OnePlus brings iPhone X-like navigation gestures in latest Oreo beta release

An edge-to-edge screen is a great thing to have, but you still have to navigate around this screen and on Android devices this is done via software buttons that take up space and spoil the “all-screen phone” idea a bit.

OnePlus now shows that it can be done in a different way. The company is testing gestures to navigate around the interface, a manner similar to what Apple uses in the iPhone X.
This new OnePlus feature is currently only available for developers to test in the OxygenOS Open Beta 3 version, as Reddit user MisterMrMister notes. We have …

Amazon brings Alexa to your smartphone, but it won't replace your smart speaker

Amazon isn’t making it easier for Google to monopolize the personal digital assistant market. The US giant has just rolled out a small but important update to the Alexa app for Android devices.

The update enables the vocal commands for the Alexa app, which was a mere tool to manage settings for the Echo smart speaker and other similar devices until now. With the latest version of Alexa, Android users will be able to speak to their smartphones and trigger Alexa skills, play music or even send messages.

However, you can only take advantage of voice commands if the Alexa application …

Curved OLED displays aren’t just a Samsung prerogative any more, it seems, as Elephone is eking out models with such screens, but made by one of the largest display companies in China. BOE introduced a flexible OLED screen back in October, and Elephone is seemingly the first one to take advantage of the gear that breaks Samsung and LG’s duopoly in the industry of thin, frugal displays with ultrahigh contrast ratio.

Latest January update for Pixel phones brings "anti-aging" display fixes

Google is not wasting any time and it kicks off 2018 with an important update for its Google Pixel lineup of phones that helps with aging of the AMOLED screens. The update has already started rolling out for the Google Pixel 2 XL, but also for the Pixel 2, as well as for last year’s Google Pixel and Pixel XL.
The interesting detail was not openly publicized by Google, but instead comes courtesy of an update listing over at Canadian carrier Telus.
Right now, it’s hard to pin-point what exactly Google remedies with this …

A leaked Android 8 build for Galaxy S8 brings Dolby Atmos to the phone!

With recent stirrings in the Samsung Beta Program for Android 8 on the Galaxy S8 and S8+, it’s become obvious that an official update to the next major Android build is drawing near. OxygenOS 5.0.1 update for OnePlus 3 and 3T brings adaptive mode, more

OnePlus continues to bring new features and improvements to the OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones. There have been at least two important updates that these devices received this month only, but OnePlus doesn’t seem to have finished and we can expect more to be released early next year.

Although the last OnePlus 3 and 3T update of the year is nothing major, it still brings a couple of new features that were requested by fans. Also, the December security patch is making its way into both OnePlus smartphones less than a month after its official release.

MIUI 9 beta brings iPhone X-like gestures to certain Xiaomi models

A beta version of Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 user interface reveals a number of gestures similar to the ones being used to navigate the Apple iPhone X. For example, with the MIUI 9 beta, swiping up from the bottom of the screen to the top takes you home. Want to see your recent apps? Swipe from the bottom toward the top, pause for a moment, and you will see which apps you are still open. Swiping from the left or right of the screen to the middle will bring you to the previous page.

The beta is available for those carrying the Xiaomi Mi Mix, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and the Xiaomi Redmi …

Android Oreo beta brings fast charging to Xiaomi Mi A1

It’s always great when a software update adds a feature that makes your handset so much better. That is the case with the Xiaomi Mi A1. The Android Oreo closed beta that Xiaomi has the phone running on, apparently adds a fast charging feature that was not available with the version of the phone that launched with Android Nougat on board. One user, after installing the Android Oreo beta on his Mi A1, discovered that it takes only 92 minutes for the battery to go from 0% to 100%. Before the update, it took more than two-hours to do the same thing. One note of interest. This was accomplished using …
