Huawei has just announced the launch of its new EMUI 8.0 user interface, which is based on Android Oreo. The new UI already comes pre-loaded on the Honor View 10 and the upcoming Honor 9 Lite.

Global OxygenOS 5.0 OTA update for the OnePlus 5, based on Android 8.0, has been canceled

Late last month (which in turn makes it late last year), the OnePlus 5 received an OTA update that included OxygenOS 5.0. The latter is based on Android 8.0, thus giving owners of the device new capabilities like Picture-in-Picture, which allows you to watch videos while running an app in the background. Autofill completes blank fields based on how you filled out similar forms in the past. And Android Instant Apps lets you run an app from your browser without stopping to install it on your phone.

Other features that come with the update include a revised camera UI for the OnePlus 5, a new …

OxygenOS open beta based on Android Oreo now available for the OnePlus 5T

OnePlus teased the Android Oreo open beta of the 5T a few days ago but didn’t exactly said when the update will be available for download.

Well, if you have a OnePlus 5T, you’ll be pleased to know the update is now live, so if you want to test Android Oreo before the final version gets released, you can now download this open beta build and flash it on your phone.

You should know that since this is a beta build, it’s not as stable as an official OTA, which means you’ll be exposed to data loss. Make sure you join OnePlus’ open beta program before …

After two Android Oreo beta builds, OnePlus has finally released the final version of the update for OnePlus 5 owners. So, if you’re running a OnePlus 5 as your daily driver, you’ll be pleased to know OxygenOS 5.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo is now being pushed out to units all over the world.

According to OnePlus, the update contains some Launcher …

Deal: Get the cloud based Nextbit Robin from eBay for $99.99

The Nextbit Robin is now available on eBay for just $99.99. The cloud based device features 32GB of native storage and another 100GB in the cloud. When the phone is on a Wi-Fi network and plugged in, apps and photos are automatically backed up. Once you’re down to the last 2GB of free native storage, the Robin automatically sends some of your less active apps to the cloud, opening up some space for new apps. Then, if you ever need once of the backed up titles, the phone quickly sends it down from the cloud so that you can use it.

The specs are not exactly cutting …

Cook: Current technology for AR based smart glasses "not mature"

Ever since the launch last year of Pokemon Go, Apple CEO Tim Cook has been a strong supporter of Augmented Reality. Because of that support, there have been several reports claiming that Apple’s next innovative product will be smart glasses similar to Google Glass. While the latter product failed in the consumer market, some analysts see such a product succeeding in Apple’s hands. Former Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster says that Apple Glasses will end up bigger than the iPhone.

But Cook put the kibosh on rumors that the glasses will come soon. The executive said in an interview on Tuesday …

Download this: Apple Music's Facebook bot suggests songs based on emoji

TwitterFacebook

Facebook and Apple have teamed up to bring a new, emoji-filled music recommendation feature to Facebook Messenger.

The Facebook messaging app was updated this week with an Apple Music bot that can recommend songs and playlists based on emoji.

The new bot surfaces music recommendations based on your preferences — or whatever emoji you happen to be feeling that day. Send the bot an emoji and get back a selection of albums or playlists that match up.

Some emoji tend to work better than others — I had more luck with 🎉 than 💩 — but the feature seems to do a decent job overall at guessing relevant music.  Read more…

Google releases Android Things Developer Preview 5 based on Android O

Even though Google announced last month that Developer Preview 4 will be the last beta release before the launch of Android O. But it’s not too late for another Android Things OS beta release, so if you’re a developer, then now would be a good time to make any last minute changes before the final version is launched.

Android Things Developer Preview 5 is quite important since this is now based on Android O, which is still under development for phones and tablets.

As expected, the 5th Android Things developer preview is aimed at developers and early adopters, …
