Kristen Bell delivers strong Time's Up message in opening monologue at SAG Awards

TwitterFacebook

Kristen Bell just delivered a strong opening monologue as the first ever host of the SAG Awards on Sunday.

Fronting a deliberately all-female presenter bill for the 2018 ceremony, The Good Place star presented a strong opening speech — and with the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements against systemic sexual abuse in Hollywood gaining immense traction, Bell’s monologue was always going to include a nod.

Mid-way through Bell’s monologue, she really hit the Time’s Up button on the head.

“Everyone’s story deserves to be told — especially now,” she said. “We are living in a watershed moment, and as we march forward with active momentum and open ears, let’s make sure that we’re leading the charge with empathy and diligence. Because fear and anger never win the race.” Read more…

J.D. Power awards T-Mobile the highest score ever for wireless customer care

While T-Mobile is still the nation’s third largest carrier, it is the fastest growing wireless operator in the country. When you consider where the carrier was a few short years ago, you can really appreciate what the company has accomplished. When we think back seven to eight years ago, T-Mobile was stuck behind Sprint, last among the top four major stateside carriers. It was last to start building out a 3G network and well behind Verizon and AT&T with 4G LTE. T-Mobile didn’t have an identity outside of its television pitchwoman Carly.

When John Legere became CEO in 2012, he immediately …

Mark Hamill remembers 'princess' Carrie Fisher at Tony Awards

TwitterFacebook

As is the standard at awards shows, there was an “in memoriam” segment at the Tony Awards Sunday night, and yup, there were tears.

“We lost many beloved members of our theatrical family,” Mark Hamill said. “Legends of the stage, artists from behind the scenes, princes of show business… and a princess,” Hamill continued, putting his hand on his heart.

The princess reference is obviously — sob — referring to Carrie Fisher, who passed away in December followed shortly after by her mother, Debbie Reynolds.

Both woman were honored as part of the In Memoriam segment, which this year took the form of five Broadway performers singing “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday.” Read more…

Final ruling from arbitration panel awards BlackBerry $940 million from Qualcomm

Last month, we told you that an arbitration panel had awarded BlackBerry a preliminary amount of $814.9 million from Qualcomm to resolve a dispute over royalties. BlackBerry claimed that Qualcomm failed to cap the amount of royalties that it was paying based on an agreement both sides shook hands over back in 2010. Back then, BlackBerry was still quite a relevant company in the smartphone industry, just one year removed from its peak as King of the Smartphone world. At the time, everyone expected BlackBerry’s sales to continue to rise including both Qualcomm and BlackBerry itself.

As a result, …
