Sam's Club has great deals on the Galaxy S8/S8+ and iPhone 7/7 Plus for its August 5th sales event

Walmart’s membership warehouse club, Sam’s, is offering a deal on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ for its one-day Fall Preview Event taking place on August 5th. Buy either handset in-club from Sam’s, and you’ll receive a $350 gift card. Sam’s says that this is the highest valued gift card ever offered for the Galaxy S8. And if you made it to school on the day they taught subtraction, you should be able to figure out that this makes the deal one of the best non-BOGO offers for the flagship device. The activation fee will be waived with the purchase of either model.

If you’ve …

Samsung Australia reveals "Screen Assure" free Galaxy Note 8 screen repair; launch date August 25th?

So far, there has been some question about the Samsung Galaxy Note 8’s model number. For the most part, we have seen SM-N950 used to designate the unlocked version of the phablet. And while it really isn’t a major deal in the scheme of things, an inadvertent leak by Samsung Australia indicates that the model number of Sammy’s next high-end handset is actually SM-N940. That is the model number listed on the Samsung Australia website, which published information about a free screen repair for Note 8 users who break the display.

The “Screen Assure” promotion is being offered by Samsung Australia …

Samsung officially announces Unpacked event for August 23rd; Galaxy Note 8 anybody?

This afternoon, Samsung sent us an invitation to its next Unpacked event. This will be held on August 23rd in New York City. If you’re thinking that this date sounds familiar, that is because last week we told you that reports out of Korea called for an August 23rd unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Now we should make one thing clear about the invite we received today. The words Samsung Galaxy Note 8 aren’t written anywhere on it. But a blue silhouette in the shape of the Samsung S Pen is included, and that pretty much takes the mystery away.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected …

Samsung CEO says Galaxy Note 8 will be announced in late August, first wave arriving in September

We know for less than a week that Samsung plans to unveil the Galaxy Note 8 ahead of IFA 2017 trade fair, which is set to kick off on September 1. Previous rumors coming from different sources claim the flagship smartphone will be announced on August 23, but the phone won’t be available on the market until September at the earliest.

Over the weekend, Samsung’s CEO DJ Koh told Taiwanese media that his company plans to reveal the Galaxy Note 8 in late August, which comes in line with previous reports.

He went on to say that Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be released …

Asus ZenFone 4 smartphones won't start shipping until August

Asus had some issues bringing its new ZenFone 4 lineup to the market, previous rumors suggest. Even if the company recently unveiled the ZenFone 4 Max, four new devices are expected to be introduced in the coming weeks.

Unfortunately, Asus won’t be able to start shipping any ZenFone 4 handset until August. Although they were initially slated for an April release, they have now been delayed by at least four months, which will probably prevent Asus from scoring highly in the global smartphone market in Q3 2017.

The new ZenFone 4 Max is supposed to compete in …

Galaxy Note 8 unveiling set for August 23, new report claims

Following yesterday’s report claiming Samsung will be pushing ahead with the Galaxy Note 8’s reveal so as to compensate for the Galaxy S8’s unexpectedly low sales, Korean-language publication The Bell has now given us a firm time and place for the event, citing unnamed industry sources.

August 23 is now reportedly set to be the date of the Note 8’s reveal, which will take place at a Galaxy Unpacked event in New York. And while this news is in stark contrast with previous rumors (including yesterday’s news), which claimed that the device will make its …

Official: Lenovo to hold its IFA 2017 keynote on August 31

With IFA 2017 less than two months’ away, it’s only normal for the more popular hardware manufacturers to start teasing and formally announcing their presence at the grand trade show.
Sony was among the first to do so, but Lenovo isn’t far behind — one of the largest China-based tech companies just revealed that it will be hosting a keynote event on August 31, just a day before IFA 2017 officially kicks in. Coincidentally, that’s the same day when Sony’s having its own moment, and it wouldn’t surprise us at all if other major manufacturers also …

Nokia 5 and 6 market release delayed until August in the UK

Having a world-renowned brand to back up your products before they get released on the market can have its pros and cons. HMD Global is one of the companies that benefited from massive media exposure in the last couple of months due to the launch of its new Nokia smartphones.

Unfortunately, that kind of publicity can put a start-up like HMD in an awkward position, as many retailers and carriers report huge interest from customers for the new Nokia smartphones. As such, HMD is having troubles meeting the high demand for its devices even before they were actually …

Copper Nokia 6 to be released in the US in August

Last week, HMD Global announced that the Nokia 6 would be officially released in the US in early July via Amazon. Now, we know exactly when the handset will start shipping, and we also know that one of its color variants won’t be released before August.

Amazon says it will release the Nokia 6 on July 10, though this is true only for the silver, standard model, and the black, Prime Exclusive model (which comes with “lockscreen offers and ads” from Amazon). There’s also a copper version of the Nokia 6 (both with, and without ads), but this will only be released on August 18 – so you’ll …

Sony to introduce a "truly" bezel-less phone on August 31st just prior to IFA?

According to a posting on Weibo, Sony will be unveiling a “truly bezel-less” handset at IFA in Berlin. Sony has already announced an event scheduled for August 31st, the day before the 2017 version of the trade show is scheduled to begin. This all ties in with an announcement made earlier this month by Japan Display (JDI), introducing a 6-inch “Full Active” display with a 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Considering that JDI is owned by Sony, Toshiba and Hitachi, it would make sense for Sony to be the first to employ the new display.

If this report is true, Sony will …
