In case you missed it, check out T-Mobile's new ad starring Nick Cannon for its Apple iPhone 8 BOGO deal

If you caught Sunday night’s American Music Award, you might have seen T-Mobile’s new ad starring Nick Cannon. The ad focuses on a BOGO deal being offered by the nation’s third largest carrier as part of its #HolidayTWOgether ad campaign. With this deal, consumers will be able to buy an Apple iPhone 8 and get a second one for free. The 30-second spot apparently takes place on Christmas Eve when Santa and his son (little Saint Nick) make a loud arrival down a chimney.

Pops urges Junior to take notes. First, Santa tells his son that T-Mobile gives you two iPhone 8 units for the price …

Apple gets warrant to turn over files inside Texas church shooter's iPhone SE

Back near the beginning of the month, Apple reportedly spoke with the FBI about unlocking the iPhone that belonged to Texas church shooter Devin Patrick Kelley. As we told you back on November 8th, Apple told the FBI that after the shooter had died of a self-inflicted gunshot, the law enforcement agency could have still used the fingers from his hands to activate Touch ID and open the phone.

Today, Texas authorities served Apple with a search warrant, seeking information on the files inside Kelley’s phones. The iPhone was discovered on Kelley after the gunman was killed with his own weapon. …

Apple releases bug fix so you can finally use the iPhone X in cold weather

The launch of the iPhone X was not as uneventful as the that of the other iPhones released by Apple this year. Many customers found weird issues with Apple’s flagship, some more serious than others.

Last week we reported about such an issue that made the iPhone X screen become temporarily unresponsive to touch after a rapid change to a cold environment. At that time, Apple promised to address the problem in an upcoming software update, but aside from that, no other information was provided.

True to its promise, Apple has now released an update that fixes …

Apple iPhone X sells out quickly in South Korea

South Korea is home to a couple of Apple rivals in Samsung and LG. But the Apple iPhone X made a statement on Friday when Korean carrier SK Telecom sold out its stock in 3 minutes. That compares to the 20 minutes it took SK Telecom to sell out the Apple iPhone 7 last year. The carrier said that the silver colored version of the tenth anniversary model was the most popular of the two color options (Space Gray being the other choice), selling out in just one minute.

In South Korea, the 64GB Apple iPhone X is priced at the equivalent of $1,237 versus the $999 the phone costs in the states. …

Frayed Apple iPhone 6 charger cable electrocutes Vietnamese teen

You might recall back in July 2013 when we told you about a 23-year old stewardess who was electrocuted when she answered a call on her Apple iPhone 5 while it was charging. That seemed to kick off a series of other incidents where iPhone or iPad users would report receiving a shock. In many cases, the problem was the use of a third party charger. Later that year, Apple announced that it would allow consumers to swap third party chargers for the official Apple version. This was to take place in certain countries including the U.S., China, and the U.K.

It has been some time since we passed …

Apple iPhone X vs iPhone 8 vs iPhone 8 Plus

Apple has three new iPhones this year: the iPhone X, the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus.

While all of them run on iOS and have identical hardware inside, only one of them feels genuinely new and that is the iPhone X.

It has a fresh new “all-screen” design (with a notch!), it has a new gesture-driven interface, and it has Face ID. And its price starts at $1,000.

How does it feel using it in comparison with the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus? Are there any differences in actual performance, camera quality and battery life? We’ve spent the last few days living with these …

Qualcomm is the odd man out as Apple and Intel design 5G modem for future iPhone models?

If there is a sign that Apple remains upset with chip maker Qualcomm, it is found in a new report published today that says Apple is working very closely with Intel on the design of a 5G modem chip for future iPhone models. Apple and Qualcomm are tied up in a series of lawsuits related to the latter’s handling of royalties on its standard essential patents. Qualcomm sought to have iPhone sales banned in China.

From the Apple iPhone 4s through the Apple iPhone 6s, Qualcomm was the sole provider of modem chips for the iPhone. Last year, Qualcomm provided the key component for the CDMA variant …

Some Apple iPhone users on AT&T can't make or take calls (UPDATE)

If you are an AT&T subscriber with an Apple iPhone, you might have found it difficult to make or answer a phone call today on your device. The nation’s second largest carrier is experiencing some sort of network issue that instantly disconnects calls once they are connected. Calls made to some iPhone models that support the AT&T pipeline are sent right to voicemail, without giving the device user a chance to answer.

UPDATE: The outage now appears to be affecting all AT&T customers regardless of the device they use.

AT&T’s @ATT Twitter account tweeted an easy solution …
