Sony H8266 appears again on a different benchmark site with SD-845, 18:9 aspect ratio and 4GB RAM

Back in December, we told you about a Sony handset with the model number of H8266. The phone appeared on the Geekbench benchmark site, powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset. 4GB of RAM was inside and Android 8.0 was pre-installed. Today, the very same model number surfaced on a handset that was run through AnTuTu’s benchmark test. The specs listed match the ones revealed back in December.

That means the Sony H8266 was once again seen carrying Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 845 mobile platform, with an octa-core CPU, the Adreno 630 GPU and Android 8.0 pre-installed. According to the benchmark …

Motorola's Moto E5 appears in 3D renders, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor confirmed

Most of Motorola’s 2018 lineup has already been leaked earlier this month, so there are little surprises still waiting for fans of the US brand. However, the Moto E5 was a bit under the radar when it comes to pictures and details about specs.

Probably the cheapest Motorola smartphone to be launched this year, the Moto E5 is expected to feature a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, something that companies usually save for their mid- and high-tier products.

Several 3D renders and a video made after the Moto E5’s CAD files confirm the positioning of the fingerprint sensor on the back …

Meizu 15 render appears revealing curved screen, fingerprint scanner and dual camera setup

Earlier this week, we showed you a couple of renders that allegedly show the front and back of the Meizu 15 Plus. The handset features very thin bezels, an 18:9 aspect ratio, and a dual camera setup on back. Below the rear camera is either a 10-LED flash (like the one found on the Meizu Pro 6 Plus) or perhaps a laser auto focus for the snappers on back. The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 mobile platform or the Exynos 8895 chipset.

Besides the 15 Plus, Meizu is planning on launching a smaller version of the device which carries the moniker of the Meizu 15. A render of the phone …

Huawei P11 name appears likely for Huawei's next P series phone, not Huawei P20

A few days ago, we told you that some expect the Huawei P10 sequel to be called the P20. But based on the number of trademarks already in place, it would seem that we should expect the next phone in the Huawei P series to be called the Huawei P11. While both names were filed with trademark regulators starting in 2015, continuing into 2016 and through last year, Huawei P11 shows up in registrations more often than Huawei P20 does.

Test pages discovered on Huawei’s site show the world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer using the P11 and P12 names. But these are just placeholders being …

'This place is a shithole' projection appears on Donald Trump's D.C. hotel

TwitterFacebook

“This place is a shithole.”

The five-word proclamation appeared as a projection above the entryway at Washington, D.C.’s Trump International Hotel on Saturday night. The projection also included an arrow pointing directly at the hotel’s entrance and a crowd of poop emoji.

The projection is, of course, a reference to Trump’s at-best-questionable, at-worst-openly-racist comment referring to Haiti, El Salvador, and the sum total of Africa as “shithole nations” during a recent immigration policy meeting. Understandably, Trump has taken a lot of criticism for the remark. Read more…

Asus ZenFone 5 Lite appears online, it could have Qualcomm chipset and 6-inch display

The next ZenFone series seems to be closer than we have expected. After delaying the ZenFone 4 smartphones for several months last year, Asus plans to shorten the time span between new releases.

According to Asus’ CEO Jerry Shen, we should expect the first ZenFone 5 smartphones to be unveiled as early as March. However, it’s unclear whether they will be announced at MWC (Mobile World Congress) or during a dedicated event later on.

Either way, it looks like the Asus ZenFone 5 series is almost ready for prime time since the first device has just been certified …

LG Aristo 2 for MetroPCS appears in unboxing video ahead of unveiling

LG Aristo 2 is the next budget-friendly smartphone that will hit US carriers in the coming weeks. A picture showing the handset’s sales package was published less than a week ago, so we know a little bit about the device that should be launched by T-Mobile.

Recently, a full unboxing video showing the LG Aristo 2 from all angles appeared on YouTube. Even though it’s certainly an entry-level smartphone, the Aristo 2 features a stylish look thanks to the premium finish.

Apparently, the smartphone will go on sale at MetroPCS as well, though we still don’t …

Render of the Alcatel 5's final design appears for your viewing pleasure

Thanks to a render tweeted by the inimitable Evan Blass, we can now have a look-see at what is supposed to be the final design of the Alcatel 5 flagship phone. Back in November, Blass included a render of the Alcatel 5 along with images of five other Alcatel handsets. The latest render released today looks very similar to the one posted two months ago. The phone will feature an aspect ratio of 18:9 and it has a very thin bottom bezel. That leaves no room for a fingerprint scanner, so the latter is placed on back.

Last month, the phone was certified by the FCC, revealing dual front-facing …

Sony H3213 Avenger appears in benchmark with dual selfie cameras

Sony has yet to launch a smartphone with dual cameras, but it looks like the Japanese company is about to correct that “issue.” The Xperia H3213 Avenger is the model number and codename of one of Sony’s upcoming smartphones, and probably the first to feature a dual-camera setup.

However, unlike most of the smartphones that include such a camera configuration, the Xperia H3213 has two cameras in the front. The information is confirmed by the listing of the phone at GFXBench, which also mentions the handset will boast a 21-megapixel rear-facing camera.

If the benchmark is indeed real, …

Samsung Galaxy S9+ appears in benchmark with (only) 4GB RAM

Samsung is rumored to launch its new flagship duo – the Galaxy S9 and S9+, earlier than usual. Since the South Korean company unveils new Galaxy S series flagships in late February or early March, if the rumors are true, Samsung might introduce them as early as January.

New information about Samsung’s upcoming top-of-the-line smartphones has just emerged online, which suggests the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are already being tested before prime time.

As some of you may already know, the two devices have been given new model numbers: SM-G960 and SM-G965. The latter was recently spotted at Geekbench, …
