Why did Apple fall down 24 places in an annual company reputation ranking?

Apple has fallen 24 places – from 5th to 29th – in the annual Reputation Quotient made by analytics company The Harris Poll.

The survey had 25,800 consumers in the US voice their opinion on which company they thought had the best reputation. For the second year in a row the winner is Amazon. The company seems to be getting more and more love each year, and the first place confirms it all. There’s something interesting though and it’s regarding Apple ranking. Last year the company was 5th, but has since fallen down 24 positions, getting the 29th place this year.

Apple has largest wearables share as overall shipments set quarterly and annual records

Unlike the smartphone market, which has seen a decline in shipments, total deliveries in the wearables market set a quarterly record during Q4, and an annual record during 2017. According to IDC, during the fourth quarter of 2017 shipments of wearable devices rose 7.7% from 35.2 million units to a record 37.9 million. For all of 2017, a record 115.4 million wearables shipped, up a healthy 10.3% from 2016’s total of 104.6 million units delivered.

IDC’s data shows that for the first time ever, the Apple Watch was the wearables leader during the quarter. Led by the Series 3 Cellular model, …

Phone shipments mark 'the biggest annual fall' on record, expensive flagships to blame

Buried in the latest industry reports that witnessed quite a few movers and shakers, is the fact that Q4 actually saw the largest quarterly drop on record in smartphone shipments. That’s right, research firm Strategy Analytics showed that shipments were 9% down in Q4 2017, compared to 2016, or “the biggest annual fall in smartphone history.”
The culprits? Longer upgrade cycles, particularly in China, due to midrangers becoming “good enough,” while average selling prices for flagships are getting ever higher with no “wow” factors attached to their ballooning costs. …

Here are all the signs and photos you need to see from Amber Rose's annual SlutWalk

For the third year in a row, Amber Rose led hundreds of defiant folks down the streets of Los Angeles for her annual SlutWalk.

The Amber Rose Foundation hosts the walk, which was founded after the SlutWalk protests in Canada. Over the past three years, the foundation has honed in on a very specific aim: to empower people, end rape culture, and reclaim the word “slut.”

In addition to the actual walking and catching glimpses of the celebrities in attendance (including Rose’s boyfriend, rapper 21 Savage), people participated in the OPENed: Women’s Conference filled with panelists and workshops dedicated to addressing social issues and gender based injustices.  Read more…

ESPN's 9th annual 'Body issue' cover was shot on Apple iPhone 7 Plus

ESPN magazine’s annual ‘Body issue’ shows how certain athletes look unclothed. Poses are struck that cover certain areas of the body that are usually not seen in this publication. Ten different athletes posed for nine separate covers. At least one of the covers was photographed using the camera on the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. The cover that showed Chicago Cubs’ second baseman Javier Baez featured an ad from Apple on the back. It showed the same exact photo of Baez used on the cover, but displayed on the handset without the ESPN graphics. The tag line reads, “Cover shot on iPhone 7 Plus.”

Ask Alexa to sign you up for Amazon Prime and save $20 on an annual membership

Virtual assistant Alexa can do many things. In fact, just the other day we told you that Alexa has over 15,000 skills in the U.S. Alexa, which you might call the breakout tech star of 2017, can mostly be found doing her thing on the Amazon Echo smart speakers. But this year, she can also be found on the Huawei Mate 9 and the HTC U11 in certain markets. The smart speaker market is getting crowded as Apple is expected to launch its HomePod this December, and Samsung is also rumored to be tossing its hat into the ring with a Bixby powered unit.

Amazon has arranged for Alexa to save you …

Here's how to get the $99 Apple Music annual subscription plan Apple doesn't want you knowing about

Apparently, Apple doesn’t really want you to know this, but it’s hidden in plain sight, so here it goes! If you purchase a monthly Apple Music subscription for $10, or are an existing subscriber, you will be able to pay $99.00 for a 12-month subscription and save some cash. Counter- intuitively to the maximum, the option is buried within the App Store app, rather than the Music app.
