A day before the start of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, LG announced an improved version of its best smartphone from 2017. The LG V30S ThinQ, as it is called, is here to introduce us to LG’s approach to artificial intelligence on mobile and to show us how AI can make a good smartphone an even better one.
The LG V30S ThinQ is the company’s first AI-powered phone
Sounds cool and all, but what can the LG V30S actually do? A primary use for the phone’s AI algorithms is to recognize various scenes and objects. When taking photos, for example, the …

Limited edition fluorite white Casio WSD-F20-WE with Android Wear 2.0 announced

Casio is back with yet another Android Wear smartwatch, the WSD-F20-WE. This time, however, the Japanese company is bringing a limited edition wearable device to market. Even if you’re familiar with Casio’s products, it may be confusing to remember all the company’s smartwatch names, so let’s make it clear.

The Casio WSD-F20-WE is just a limited edition version of the WSD-F20, a rugged Pro Trek smartwatch unveiled back in April. This limited edition model comes with the same hardware inside, but a different color called “fluorite white” that’s supposed to give the smartwatch a crystalline …

LG G7 is on schedule and will be announced "when the time is right"

It may be true that LG G7 won’t make an appearance next month at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, but that doesn’t mean that flagship was delayed, according to LG. Still, considering the fact the South Korean company usually unveils its flagship for the first half of the year at MWC, we could say that the G7 was postponed.

LG’s CEO confirmed early this year at CES (Consumers Electronics Show) 2018 that the G7 development will start from scratch, which is the main reason the smartphone won’t be announced next month.

However, LG recently told Android Central that the G7 is right on …

HTC's new selfie phone announced: dual front cameras, currently exclusive to China

HTC is no stranger to selfie-oriented smartphones. Back in the final months of 2014, it launched the HTC Desire Eye — an upper-tier midranger that had identical 13 MP cameras on both front and back, each supported by their own dual-tone LED flash. With the flagship HTC 10, selfie fanatics got a different type of treat — an OIS module for the front camera, making for less blurry shots and stable video for vlogging.

Now, the company is launching a brand-new selfie-centered handset — a new member of the HTC U family, called the HTC U11 EYEs. Yeah, that’s eyes plural, since …

The HTC U11 EYEs, also known as HTC Harmony, is supposed to be revealed next week. We reported earlier this month that a mid-range smartphone with that might go official very soon.

Well, it looks like the Chinese media has already received invitations to an HTC event, which mention the word “Eye.” The announcement is scheduled for January 15, while rumors claim the HTC U11 EYEs will go on sale in three Asian countries – China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, on January 17.

Specs-wise, HTC U11 EYEs is a mid-range device equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, …

Samsung Galaxy S9 might be announced in February

TwitterFacebook

Ready or not, Samsung’s Galaxy S9 is coming.

The Korean electronics giant’s next flagship Android phone might be announced in February, according to a report from Bloomberg.

There were murmurs that Samsung would switch things up this year and reveal the Galaxy S9 at CES in January, instead of at its own “Unpacked” event a few months later. But it appears that may not happen. Samsung could still unveil another phone — perhaps the long-rumored foldable “Galaxy X” — at CES, though.

The Bloomberg report claims Samsung is expected to unveil two versions of the Galaxy S9 — a regular S9 and larger S9+, which sounds about right considering the company did the same for the last two years running with the S7 and S8.  Read more…
