The LG G Flex2, launched in India last month, has been made available to buy in the country on Thursday. The curved display smartphone is priced at Rs. 54,990, and was first globally introduced at CES 2015.

To recall, the LG G Flex2 when announced back in January, was the first smartphone to run Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 (a 64-bit octa-core SoC). It is coupled with the Adreno 430 GPU and 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM. The single-SIM smartphone runs Android 5.0 Lollipop and features a 5.5-inch full-HD curved P-OLED display with a 1080×1920 pixels resolution and a 403ppi pixel density.

The LG G Flex2’s display has a 700mm-radius curvature, while the back is slightly sharper with a 650mm-radius curvature for grip. LG says the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 has been toughened approximately 20 percent from the previous generation with the firm’s own special chemical treatment technology – LG calls this Dura-Guard glass. The whole phone is supposedly 30 percent more durable than the original.

The company has also improved upon the ‘Self Healing’ back from the original LG G Flex, and it will now get healed within 10 seconds at room temperature – significantly lower than the last-generation’s three minutes.

The LG G Flex2 sports a rear 13.0-megapixel camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS+), dual-LED two-tone flash, and laser-guided autofocus just like the LG G3. It sports a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. The G Flex2 will come in 16GB and 32GB storage variants that are expandable via microSD card.

Connectivity options on the LG G Flex2 include 4G LTE-A with tri-band carrier aggregation, HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth Smart Ready (Apt-X) 4.1, NFC, SlimPort, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, and USB 2.0. The device measures in at 149.1×75.3×7.1 – 9.4mm, and weighs 152 grams. The curved handset packs a curved embedded 3000mAh non-removable battery.

The other features include things like a simple hand ‘Gesture Shot’ recognisable from up to 1.5 metres away; ‘Gesture View’ to check last clicked shot; ‘Glance View’ to swipe down for notifications even when the screen is off, and ‘Fast Charging’ – which can charge the battery up to 50 percent in under 40 minutes. The smartphone is available in Titan Silver/16GB variant for now.

WWE 2K Game For iOS Android Free Download

We told you a few weeks ago how WWE 2K was set to be released in spring and today that has happened, with the wrestling game is available to download for both iOS on the App Store and Android on Google Play. You’ll need to hand over $7.99 in order to play it, but there’s plenty to get your teeth into once you have.

Featuring some of the biggest names in past and present wrestling, WWE 2K allows gamers to play as the likes of Hulk Hogan, John Cena, Sting, Triple H, Undertaker, Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Bray Wyatt. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy then you can even create your own custom character too. Just try and come up with a good name when you do!

In a press statement, Visual Concepts president Greg Thomas said that “as the first simulation-based WWE video game for mobile devices, WWE 2K provides an opportunity to experience virtual WWE action anywhere and at any time.” Notice the word ‘simulation’ in there? WWE 2K is the closest thing to a real wrestling game you’re going to find on iOS and Android, which is another reason that $8 price tag shouldn’t put you off in a day and age where developers have conditioned us to expect games to be free with in-app purchases.

Available for both tablets and smartphones, WWE 2K features a career mode that is likely to be the game’s main focus point for most players. Taking your favorite character, or indeed a personally created one, is the kind of thing we used to love about console wrestling games as we grew up. Being able to do it on a tablet or smartphone is just awesome.

Download WWE 2K from the App Store or Google Play Store today. Again, it’s $7.99.

Rooting Samsung Galaxy S6 Will Break Samsung Pay Functionality

Not long after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, it has been confirmed that rooting the devices in order to perform further customization and development will result in the breaking of the yet-to-be-launched Samsung Pay mobile payments functionality, which is being sold as a key feature of the S6.

Samsung Pay and the KNOX data security features require the device to be unrooted in order for their respective features to work as intended. By rooting the devices in order to perform further customization and development, the security integrity of both programs is compromised and are rendered useless.

Samsung Pay works through the February acquisition of Loop Pay and its magnetic stripe transfer technology. The technology allows the phone to be used in standard swipe-only card readers by touching the phone to the reader, which the reader interprets as a full card swipe.

This is said to be more compatible for current merchants than Apple Pay and Google Wallet, since those require the availability of more expensive NFC-compatible card readers and it’s estimated that only 300,000 storefronts are equipped to support NFC-based payments in the US.

Samsung Pay is set to launch later this Summer and counts MasterCard, VISA, American Express, Bank of America, Citi, JPMorgan Chase, and U.S. Bank as its initial partners in the program with further expansion in the future.

Nokia Coneccting Android phones in 2016

Nokia’s Microsoft-induced restrictions on producing phones, and using its brand on them, will expire next year, and the Finnish communications juggernaut already hinted it will be back in the mobile industry with a vengeance then.

It turns out, as per the President of Nokia China, that the company is actually going to fulfil many fanboys’ dreams, and will start churning out Android smartphones, likely manufactured in Sichuan, where Nokia’s R&D center will be relocated for good as well.

We know that Nokia toyed around with Android before, and even outed the N1 tablet with the green robot’s backing, but having actual Nokia Android phones is bound to cause some movers and shakers in the mobile world come 2016, so we can’t wait for further snippets on the matter.

Turing smartphone is extra secure and stronger than steel

If you’re Turing Robotic Industries, you pour your energy into clever design both inside and out. The newly unveiled Turing Phone puts an emphasis on security, with its own server-free encrypted communication between owners and a fingerprint reader that encourages you to lock down your device. There’s also an Apple-like magnetic charging system, so you won’t send your phone flying. However, the real star of the show is the frame. It’s built from “liquidmorphium,” a metal alloy that’s reportedly stronger than steel or titanium. While there’s also aluminum, ceramic and plastic on the body, that exotic structure should reduce the chances that you’ll wreck your handset through a nasty drop.

Performance-wise, it’s not so cutting edge. You’re looking at last year’s Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 5.5-inch, 1080p screen. That’s certainly competent, but you probably won’t regret snagging that Galaxy S6. Its biggest advantages are a healthy amount of built-in storage (up to 128GB) and the combination of an 8-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel rear shooter with dual flashes. There’s broad support for North American and European LTE bands, too, so you shouldn’t miss out on fast data.

Like the idea? Be prepared to wait, and pay a fair amount. Turing tells us that its phone should ship on August 10th, and it’ll sell for $740 unlocked in 64GB form, or $870 for a 128GB variant. There are promises of carrier deals as well, although it’s not saying which networks are on deck. Given that many big providers tend to be leery of supporting relative newcomers, a direct order will likely be your best bet.

Europe opens antitrust investigation into Android

The European Commission has been examining Google’s Android operating system for nearly three years, and it is now ready to launch a formal investigation into claims of unfair app bundling. Google services and apps like Maps, Chrome, and YouTube are often bundled with Android devices, and competitors have complained that it’s giving Google an unfair advantage. Regulators previously questioned telecom companies and phone manufacturers, to see whether Google forces them to bundle apps or services at the expense of competitors.

“The investigation will focus on whether Google has entered into anti-competitive agreements or abused a possible dominant position in the field of operating systems, applications and services for smart mobile devices,” says the Commission. The European Commission will focus on three key areas for its investigation. The first is whether Google has hindered the development and market access of rival apps and services by requiring or incentivising smartphone and tablet makers to exclusively pre-install Google’s own apps and services. The Commission will also investigate whether Google has prevented smartphone and tablet makers from creating modified versions of Android that run Google’s apps and services. A final key area will focus on whether Google is tying or bundling its apps and services on Android devices with other Google apps, services, or APIs.

Google has been increasingly adapting Android and its own APIs to bundle more of its own apps and services into the core benefit of Android, meaning forks like Amazon’s own Fire OS do not always have access to the latest features and changes without access to the key Google Play Services APIs. Members of the Open Handset Alliance are forbidden from producing Android devices based on forks of the OS, so the majority of smartphone makers use Google’s own version. The European Commission is clearly focusing on all of the intricacies of Google’s smartphone agreements, and the Android investigation will run separate to the Commission’s investigation into Google’s internet search behavior.

Google has responded to the Commission, defending Android in a number of ways. Google claims anti-fragmentation agreements ensure apps work across all Android devices, and app distribution agreements “make sure people get a great ‘out of the box’ experience with useful apps right there on the home screen.” Google’s VP of Android engineering, Hiroshi Lockheimer, argues that the company’s app bundling “helps manufacturers of Android devices compete with Apple, Microsoft and other mobile ecosystems that come preloaded with similar baseline apps.” Lastly, Lockheimer compares Google to Apple, noting that “there are far fewer Google apps pre-installed on Android phones than Apple apps on iOS devices.”

While Google’s comparison to Apple may be valid, recent IDC figures show that Android dominates smartphones shipments with 81.5 percent marketshare, a huge lead over Apple’s 14.8 percent. Together, Android and iOS made up 96.3 percent of all smartphone shipments in 2014. “We are thankful for Android’s success and we understand that with success comes scrutiny,” says Lockheimer. “We look forward to discussing these issues in more detail with the European Commission over the months ahead.”
