Not to be outdone by all the recent releases, Alcatel has
unleashed two of its own lower-mid-range contenders – the A7 and A7 XL. We take a first look at these devices to see if they pack enough value and features to create some buzz in this already crowded price point.
Design and Display
The XL is the better looking, metal bodied, and obviously
larger of the two. Packing a 6-inch, 1080p IPS display, the A7 XL’s metal
backing gives a more premium feel than the textured plastic of the A7, which
has a slightly smaller 5.5-inch 1080p IPS display. They’re both thicker …
The Alcatel A7 comes with a 1.5 GHz octa-core processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage (expandable via microSD card slot), 5.5-inch 1080p screen, 16-megapixel main camera and a 8-megapixel selfie shooter.
The IDOL 5 is a mid-range smartphone that runs Android 7.0 Nougat. The phone is equipped with a 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, 3GB RAM and 16GB internal memory, which can be further expanded via microSD card. Alcatel IDOL 5 sports a 5.2-inch IPS display with full HD (1080p) resolution and packs a decent 2,800 mAh battery. A 13(interpolated to 16)-megapixel camera is positioned on the back side, alongside a fingerprint sensor. There’s also a secondary 5(interpolated to 8)-megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calls.
News about Alcatel’s new lineup of smartphones continues to pour in with just one week before their official unveiling. The next device on the least of upcoming smartphones is the Alcatel Idol 5, which was recently spotted at GFXBench with model number TCL 6058.
The Idol 5 is a mid-range smartphone that runs Android 7.0 Nougat. Unfortunately, it’s much more expensive than it should, considering the rest of the specs. It appears that Alcatel Idol 5 will be launched in Europe for around €400 outright.

Alcatel is expected to introduce a handful of Android smartphones at IFA in early September. A few of them have already been leaked such as the Alcatel U5 HD, A3 Plus, and A7 XL.

Unsurprisingly, Alcatel is back with yet another budget-friendly Android smartphone. Despite the fact that the new Alcatel U5 HD has pretty low-end specs, this an enhanced version of another smartphone that was unveiled early this year at MWC.
Much of the specs inside are similar, so expect the same MediaTek MT6737 processor, coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB expandable storage (up to 32GB). However, there are some improvements when it comes to camera and display.
The Alcatel U5 HD sports a 5-inch display with HD (720p) resolution, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, …
The newest Android smartphone launched by Alcatel, the Idol 5S is now on sale on Amazon. The handset made its debut in the United States only last month, so it’s quite disconcerting to see this mid- to high-end smartphone being discounted earlier than usual.
The Idol 5S is the only smartphone launched by Alcatel that ships with Android 7.1 Nougat right out of the box. The 5.2-inch display with full HD (1080p) resolution features Asahi Dragontrail Glass coating.
On the inside, Alcatel’s mid-range handset packs a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, …
At least three new Android smartphones will be introduced by Alcatel at IFA 2017. The unannounced devices have been leaked over the weekend and are likely to make their debut on the market this fall.
The Alcatel A3 Plus comes in two variations (3G and 4G) and sports a 5.5-inch display with HD (720p) resolution. Even though this is a cheap device, it will feature a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the 3G model, but the 4G version will have the fingerprint scanner on the front side.

The Alcatel Idol 4 Pro saga is not yet over, at least not in the UK where the Windows 10 smartphone should have been already available for purchase.
Although Microsoft and Alcatel promised to bring the device in the UK in the last week of July, the Idol 4 Pro’s market release was postponed by two weeks.
Well, it looks like the day of August 7 is about to end and Alcatel Idol 4 Pro isn’t yet available for purchase in the UK. In fact, Microsoft delayed the release of the smartphone once again, so those who still want the Windows 10 handset will have to wait …
