New face recognition technology promises 10 times better accuracy than Face ID

A new face recognition technology coming from a Chinese phone maker promises 10 times better accuracy than Apple’s Face ID.
The new face identification technology uses a similar principle to Face ID on the iPhone X: it uses a dot projector to project a mesh of points to the face and make a detailed 3D map. However, unlike the iPhone X that uses some 30,000 points to map a face, this new technology uses 300,000, ten times more, hence the 10 times better accuracy claim.

Analyst says that Apple will not use cheaper parts or reduce accuracy for TrueDepth Camera on 2018 models

The Apple iPhone X hasn’t even been launched yet, and already KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is writing to clients about the 2018 Apple iPhone line up. Earlier this month, Kuo told clients that all 2018 iPhone models will feature a TrueDepth Camera and Face ID. Previously, we heard that next year’s handsets will all feature an OLED panel. The goal for Apple next year is to bring some of the technology that was reserved for the iPhone X this year, into the less expensive models for next year. Efficient, dual-frequency GPS chip to vastly increase location accuracy on select phones in 2018

Chip maker Broadcom has just come up with a new dual-frequency GPS chip that promises to greatly improve GPS accuracy – from around 5 meters as of now to roughly 30cm. A great improvement no matter how you look at it. 
Currently known as BCM47755, this breakthrough new GPS chip got unveiled a few days ago at teh ION GNSS+ summit in Portland, OR, and has been already included in the blueprints for some unspecified upcoming smartphones.
