The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has a codename

Last month, we told you that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 might be launched earlier than usual this year, perhaps by July or August. The Note 9 could carry a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display, with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The Snapdragon 845 mobile platform or the Exynos 9810 chipset should be under the hood, depending on location, and we could see 6GB of RAM inside along with 128GB of native storage. A 4,000mAh battery will keep the lights on, and we just might see the same dual camera setup (12MP +12MP) used on the Samsung Galaxy S9+. And the 8MP front-facing selfie snapper found on the Galaxy S9+ …

The trademarks were filed with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), suggesting ZTE’s next Axon devices could receive an early Russian release, yet they will likely reach a number of other markets, including the majority of Europe, and the US and Canada. In regards to what …

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 to launch well before the Apple iPhone Xs?

A new report out of South Korea suggests that Samsung will start producing the OLED panels for the Galaxy Note 9 next month, two months ahead of schedule. Considering that last year’s Galaxy Note 8 (pictured in the photograph at the top of this story) was launched on September 17th, we could see the Note 9 released in July or August. The display is rumored to weigh in at 6.38-inches, up from the 6.32-inch screen on the 2017 model.

The buzz around the watercooler is that Sammy wants to make sure that the Galaxy Note 9 is already available to consumers before the expected September launch …

Note 9 pops up on a Samsung website

Hot on the heels of the Note 9 appearing in a benchmark database, now Samsung’s upcoming S-Pen holder is all but confirmed, as it has already been released in Samsung’s support pages. Yes, the SM-N960U internal codename has been listed on several country-specific websites, among tips on how to replace an S-Pen nib, indicating, well, a stylus-laden handset, surprise, surprise.

As a reminder, the Note 9 is expected to sport the 6.3″ display of the Note 8, with the brightness and cover glass improvements of the S9 and S9+ displays. On the chipset part, expect Snapdragon 845 …

The Note 9 may sport a much larger battery than the Note 8

The Galaxy Note 9 is expected to sport the Infinity Display 2.0 design that made a cameo in the Galaxy S9 and S9+, but with tougher frame and cover glass, and either in-display finger scanner, or a more orthodox one on the back, depending on which rumors one picks to believe. The Exynos 9810 and Snapdragon 845 go without saying with their 2nd-gen 10nm process, and we might see 6GB RAM/128GB storage as the starting memory combo.

As for the camera, we’d be surprised if Samsung has developed something different than the excellent dual S9+ shooter specifically for the Note 9, so …

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 might feature an in-display fingerprint scanner after all

Last we heard, Samsung was supposed to skip implementing an in-display fingerprint sensor into its upcoming Galaxy Note 9 smartphone, partially because of issues related to screen protectors. However, a brand new report from South Korea now has it that the next generation Galaxy Note might come with an in-display fingerprint scanner after all.
According to Korea Herald and an anonymous industry source, Samsung Display (a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics) currently has three or four solutions to embed a fingerprint sensor into the Super AMOLED screen of the Galaxy …

The Chuwi Hi 9 Air tablet will come with Android Oreo out of the box

With the increasingly larger size of smartphone screens over the last few years, the main casualty has been the tablet market. Sales of slates have been slipping and several Android manufacturers have slowed down development of new tablets, or have stopped designing new models altogether. However, there are still some new Android powered slates coming to market. Case in point, the Chuwi Hi 9 Air by a company named Chuwi (of course).

Unlike many of the devices made by this company, the Hi 9 Air actually sports some premium specs. First, we should tell you that it does come out of the box …

It's happening, Samboys! Galaxy Note 9 trademark application filed up… in Columbia

Samsung has applied for a “Galaxy Note 9” trademark… in Columbia, together with trademarks of all of its recent smartphones there. The date stamp on the filing says March 12, and, while we are still a few months away from the actual announcement, this is the first tangible proof that a Note 9 is coming, straight from the horse’s mouth.

From Columbia to the USPTO it’s only a stone throw away, but when Samsung files on US soil, we will know that the unveiling is imminent, and will inform you accordingly. As a reminder, the Note 9 is expected to sport the 6.3″ display of the Note …

In-display finger scanners do work with protectors, so what's up with the Note 9?

While Samsung reportedly ran out of time to implement in-display finger scanner on the Galaxy S8, and, now, the Galaxy S9, one could reasonably expect that the Note 9 would be the high-end gear that this type of unobtrusive fingerprint recognition technology would make a cameo in.

Not so fast, advised reputed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo last week, informing us that the Note 9 won’t have a reader hidden under its display glass. While a few of the reasons he cited sound familiar, the one that said such scanners won’t work with screen protectors was a new thing, …
