Unlocked LG V30 starts getting Android 8.0 Oreo in the US

Although all major carriers in the United States have already released Android 8.0 Oreo updates for the LG V30, the unlocked model hasn’t received the update yet. It’s common knowledge that unlocked smartphone models are the first to receive major Android OS updates, followed by carrier-bound versions.

Well, it appears that LG was forced by US carriers to deliver Android Oreo updates to their units first, and then offer the same service to consumers who bought the unlocked models.

If you’ve been wondering what’s happening with the unlocked LG V30, it appears that Android 8.0 Oreo …

Android 8.0 Oreo coming to Honor 8 after all

There’s been quite a lot of talk about whether or not the Honor 8 will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo. Despite the fact that it didn’t initially include the smartphone on the list of soon to be upgraded devices, Honor said the 8 will eventually receive some kind of major Android OS update, but didn’t offer too many details about it.

The good news is Honor is actively working on Android 8.0 Oreo for the Honor 8 and is likely to release it very soon. In fact, a build is already available for download if you know where to look, but it’s just for the Chinese version of the Honor 8.

Apparently, …

LG V30 is finally getting Android 8.0 Oreo at T-Mobile, but not the easy way

T-Mobile is the last US carrier which hasn’t yet provided LG V30 owners with an Android 8.0 Oreo update. It’s been more than a month since the other three major carriers in the country released Oreo updates for the V30, but for some reason, T-Mobile was forced to delay it.

Usually, these updates are deployed OTA (over the air), so you don’t really have to do anything aside from waiting to be notified when you can download it. For those impatient, there’s another method that sometimes allows them to get a major update slightly earlier by simply heading to the Settings menu and force pull …

Samsung starts rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo for Galaxy S7/S7 edge in Europe

It looks like Samsung has already kicked off the Galaxy S7/S7 edge Oreo roll-out, just like it said in a previous statement. The first country to get the long-awaited update is the UK, but it’s safe to assume Samsung will add more markets in the coming weeks.

The South Korean company confirmed last week that Android 8.0 Oreo for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will arrive by mid-May, but that doesn’t mean everyone will get the update until then. Now, SamMobile reports Samsung is rolling out firmware version G930FXXU2ERD5 and G935FXXU2ERD5 for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in the UK.

Surprisingly, …

As expected, Honor 7X is now getting the highly-anticipated Android 8.0 Oreo update. The mid-ranger that’s supposed to appeal to consumers interested in mid-tier handsets made its debut in the United States earlier this year.

When the smartphone was introduced in the US, Honor promised to offer an Android 8.0 Oreo update to those who purchase the Honor 7X. Starting today, the Chinese company is rolling out the Android Oreo update based on EMUI 8.0 to all Honor 7X units in the US.

T-Mobile stops the rollout of the Android 8.0 Oreo update for its Galaxy Note 8

All major carriers in the United States announced they have successfully deployed the Android 8.0 Oreo update for Samsung Galaxy Note 8. However, if you’ve bought your Samsung phablet from T-Mobile, you might be in for an unpleasant surprise.

If you did not receive the update in early April when T-Mobile kicked off the Android Oreo roll-out, then chances are you won’t be able to upgrade your Samsung Galaxy Note 8 yet.

The US carrier recently confirmed that the Android 8.0 Oreo update for Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which was initially available for download on April 1, has been put on …

Samsung Galaxy S7 Android 8.0 Oreo update pushed back to mid-May

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 edge are probably anxious to get the highly-anticipated Android 8.0 Oreo update, but it looks like they’ll have to wait a while longer. Although previous rumors suggested the update may arrive in mid-April, it appears that Samsung may have pushed back the release of Android Oreo until next month.

According to the new scheduler published by a Turkish website used by Samsung for official announcements, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge should receive Android 8.0 Oreo updates on May 18. It’s worth mentioning that the Galaxy S7/S7 edge Android 8.0 Oreo update is not …

Google app gets updated to version 8.0, includes new feature "Your People" which is not yet live

The Google app for Android has been updated to version 8.0. This way they can tell the virtual assistant to call, text or email  “Mom” and the virtual assistant will make the call, send a text or send an email to the correct number or email address. To see the “Your People” page, go to the Google Assistant settings and click on Personal info. From there, tap on “Your People” (see the screenshots at the …

T-Mobile may have delayed the LG V30 Android 8.0 Oreo update again

T-Mobile announced less than two weeks ago that its LG V30 variant will receive the long-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update in mid-April. Unfortunately, if you’ve purchased your LG V30 from T-Mobile, you’ll probably have to wait a while longer.

Although the roll-out should have started this week, T-Mobile support says LG V30 Android 8.0 Oreo update is a few weeks away. If you’re not aware of T-Mobile’s previous statement, it’s worth mentioning the carrier said it was forced to delay the update due to LG making a “booboo.”

Well, it appears that the “booboo” was more serious they have …
