Morgan Stanley's Huberty sees innovative Apple iPhone 8 driving higher than expected sales this year

Morgan Stanley’s tech analyst, Katy Huberty, has some very positive thoughts about the tenth anniversary iPhone that is expected to launch later in 2017. The analyst says that this super cycle for the iPhone has not been fully appreciated. She expects the Apple iPhone 8 (or iPhone X as some have dubbed the device) to be an innovative smartphone with an OLED screen, 3D sensors, wireless charging and advanced AI technology.

Huberty sees Apple selling 20% more iPhone units in 2017 on a year-over-year basis, double the Wall Street consensus. Her most bullish forecast has iPhone revenue increasing …

This is the iPhone 8 that we wish Apple would create

Apple has yet to say anything official about this year’s upcoming iPhones, but that hasn’t stopped the fine folks on the Internet from coming up with fantastical ideas as to what the highly anticipated iPhone 8 may have to offer. There have been tons of gorgeous concept designs that give us an idea as to what we could possibly get from Apple later this September, but the latest one to surface just might be one of our favorites.

iPhone 8 OLED panel may drive up the price of Apple's next flagship

This may just be a rumor at this point, but we’re pretty sure no one wants to hear that the next iPhone might be even more expensive. Still, that’s exactly what is being claimed by the supply chain. And, the reason all comes down to the cost of the OLED panel that Apple is expected to be using in the iPhone 8. All that said, you might still be surprised at the effect on the price tag.

The main culprit is the OLED 3D Touch panel that Apple is expected to use in the iPhone 8. Supply chain sources for Digitimes say the existing 3D Touch display modules cost Apple $9 each, but …

We are in the last days before the launch of the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8 and all kinds of speculations are being thrown across the mobile tech forum. From spec rumors to sales count predictions, we are flooded by a number of leaks, and honestly, we can’t wait!

However, a recent statement, coming from Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, a respected Apple-leaker, suggests that the Galaxy S8 “lacks sufficiently attractive selling points” and will most likely lag behind the also much-talked-about Apple iPhone 8. Kuo put emphasis on the OLED screen the next iPhone …

The press invite doesn’t exactly mention which phone Honor will be announcing, but previous rumors have suggested that the company would soon be taking the V9 out of its home turf …

Apple iPhone 8 might end up looking like this mockup

We’ve all heard about the rumored specs for the Apple iPhone 8, such as the curved edge-to-edge AMOLED screen that practically covers the entire front of the phone. Touch ID is either embedded in the display, or replaced by a face detection system using a “revolutionary” front-facing camera to unlock the phone and to provide verification. The size of the OLED screen is said to be 5.8-inches, although some of that is earmarked for the embedded home button. The active display will be approximately 5.1 to 5.15-inches.

Earlier today, we told you about a report out of Japan that said there will …

Nikkei confirms: Apple iPhone 8 to feature 5.8-inch OLED screen

The 2D images from the camera will use the new sensor to produce 3D selfies and will also be employed for face recognition.

Chinese retailer adds Nokia 8 placeholder with $465 price tag

HMD Global isn’t supposed to bring any high-end Nokia smartphones at Mobile World Congress this year, if we are to believe the latest reports coming from various sources.

However, that doesn’t seem to bother a particular Chinese retailer, which recently listed a Nokia 8 placeholder, the Finnish company’s rumored the flagship. The listing indicates the smartphone could cost around $465, but since it’s just a placeholder, the final price might be different.

It’s worth noting that the same retailer, JD.com is the exclusive seller of the Nokia 6 in China. On …
