Deal: Honor 7X costs just $1 in the US until April 8 (flash sale)

Great news for Honor fans, as the handset maker is running a sale on some of the most popular Android smartphones it launched in the last couple of years. The star of the sale is the Honor 7X, which costs just $1 until April 8.

However, limited quantities of Honor 7X will be available at this price. Also, Honor has decided to adopt the “flash sale” model for this promotion, which means the phone may show as unavailable after a certain number of units have been sold.

The so-called “Honor World Carnival” promotion includes discounts on other smartphones like Honor View 10 and Honor …

A reasonable price: grab a Galaxy Note 8 (new) for $720!

Buy here

Ever since the Galaxy S9+ came out, everyone’s been scratching their heads, asking the same question — “It’s all-around better than the Galaxy Note 8, but the latter still costs $110”. Indeed, the only thing the Note 8 has over the S9+ is the S Pen, but no matter how much of a stylus fan you are, it’s really, really hard to justify dropping $950 on it.

Well, maybe you don’t have to. Now that the Note 8 is relatively old, you …

Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is the last to receive Android 8.0 Oreo in the US

The unlocked version of Galaxy Note 8 is finally getting Android 8.0 Oreo in the United States. Although this is usually the first variant of the phone that gets a major update before carrier-branded models, the US seems to be an exception.

After AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile released Android 8.0 Oreo for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 in the last week or so, those who bought the unlocked version can now download and install the update as well.

It appears that the update weighs in at 1.1GB and includes the March security update. Don’t expect any other changes like the ones included …

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to receive Oreo update in Canada starting on April 5th

Those in Canada who own the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 need to circle April 5th on their calendar. That is when Android 8.0 is scheduled to start rolling out to Galaxy Note 8 owners who are subscribers to Canadian wireless operator Rogers. The latter already has posted the date on its website. As for those Canadian Galaxy Note 8 owners who are customers of other carriers in the country, it should be noted that Samsung usually releases carrier updates all at one time.

Android 8.0 includes the new Picture-in-Picture feature which allows you to watch video while still interacting with an app running …

T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to get Oreo starting on Sunday

Verizon did it. AT&T did it, and Sprint did it, too. Those three carriers already started updating their versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to Android 8.0 Oreo. So that meant that T-Mobile subscribers with the Galaxy Note 8 have been left out. But all of that changes on Sunday night when T-Mobile starts pushing out the update OTA to its customers toting the handset.

The update will roll out in waves, so if it doesn’t hit your phone immediately, you can go to Settings and tap on updates to see if you can coax it out manually. If not, be patient and the Android build named for the delicious …

Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ and Note 8 updated with GIF support for Always On Display

Samsung is reportedly deploying yet another update for some of its top-tier smartphones, such as the Galaxy S8/S8+ and Galaxy Note 8. The new firmware updates the Always On Display (AOD) feature on all three smartphones and introduces support for GIF files.

Although GIF support for AOD was present inside these phones since their launch, the GIF files displayed were static. The latest update is meant to correct that issue and animate all GIF files that you now set to show up on your display when Always On Display is enabled.

However, it appears that the GIF animations will only run …

Sprint starts rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo to the Galaxy Note 8

It looks like good things happen to consumers who bought the Galaxy Note 8 in the United States. After Samsung announced earlier this week that it will upgrade the smartphone to Android 8.0 Oreo in 2-3 weeks, local carriers started to deploy the update.

AT&T was the first US carrier to offer the update, followed soon by Verizon. Now, we’ve received word that Sprint is rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo to the Galaxy Note 8, too. The update weighs in at 1.3GB and brings the March security patch, as well as Samsung Experience 9.0.

Besides the new features and improvements that come with …

Verizon rolls out Android 8.0 Oreo to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8

Although Samsung promised to bring Android 8.0 Oreo to Galaxy Note 8 smartphones in the United States in 2-3 weeks, it appears that some carriers have already decided to push out the update.

AT&T was the first US carrier to roll out Android 8.0 Oreo for the Galaxy Note 8, and now it looks like Verizon is next. Reports coming from Verizon Galaxy Note owners suggest the Big Red has just started the Android 8.0 Oreo roll-out.

The carrier hasn’t yet updated the phone’s support page, but the size of the update (1GB+) somewhat confirms that this is indeed the highly-anticipated Android …

AT&T is updating its Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to Android Oreo

A few days ago, Samsung said that all Galaxy Note 8 units (unlocked and carrier models) in the US would be updated to Android 8 Oreo in 2-3 weeks. Today, perhaps sooner than many users had expected, AT&T became the first carrier to deliver Oreo to the Note 8.
The Android 8 Oreo update that AT&T is rolling out over the air weighs in at a bit over 1.4 GB, and includes the Samsung Experience 9.0 UI – the same that you’ll find on the brand new Galaxy S9 and S9+ out of the box. The update also brings Google’s latest security patch (for March).

The Note 9 may sport a much larger battery than the Note 8

The Galaxy Note 9 is expected to sport the Infinity Display 2.0 design that made a cameo in the Galaxy S9 and S9+, but with tougher frame and cover glass, and either in-display finger scanner, or a more orthodox one on the back, depending on which rumors one picks to believe. The Exynos 9810 and Snapdragon 845 go without saying with their 2nd-gen 10nm process, and we might see 6GB RAM/128GB storage as the starting memory combo.

As for the camera, we’d be surprised if Samsung has developed something different than the excellent dual S9+ shooter specifically for the Note 9, so …
