Blast from the past: Verizon rolls out Android 7.0 Nougat for Motorola DROID MAXX 2

The DROID MAXX 2 is a rather old smartphone having been introduced in the US in late 2015. At the time Verizon launched the device, it was running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, but the carrier updated the DROID MAXX 2 to Marshmallow back in 2016.

Although it hasn’t been three full years since the DROID MAXX 2 made its debut on the market, we’re kind of surprised to see that Verizon and Motorola are still supporting the smartphone. Today, Big Red confirmed the handset launched in October 2015 is now getting an Android 7.0 Nougat update.

TwitterFacebook

In Boston, officials planning annual First Night festivities don’t have to worry about melting ice sculptures this year. In fact, with air temperatures tumbling toward the single digits on Sunday night, New Year’s Eve is going to be so dangerously cold that event organizers have canceled all but the fireworks display.

In New York City, the ball drop in Times Square will take place amid the coldest weather since about 1962, when the temperature at midnight was a measly 1 degree Fahrenheit. The forecast air temperature at midnight is just 10 degrees above zero, with a wind chill of minus-5 to minus-20 degrees Fahrenheit.  Read more…
