Samsung sends out invitations to media for Galaxy S9 unveiling on February 25th

It’s getting closer, which means it is getting real. Samsung today sent out press invitations for the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S9, which will take place during the Samsung Unpacked event on February 25th. That is the day before the MWC trade show in Barcelona begins, traditionally when Samsung would unveil its new flagship models. However, last year Samsung pushed back the unveiling of the Galaxy S8 until March.

This year, it appears that Sammy is reverting back to its old time schedule. The invitations, which don’t mention the Galaxy S9 precisely, show a big purple 9 with the words …

Verizon's Go Unlimited plan to include Mexico and Canada starting on January 25th

As many of you know, Verizon offers two different unlimited plans, Go Unlimited and Beyond Unlimited. The former is the lower priced of the two options, and offers DVD-quality video streaming (480p) as opposed to the HD streaming (720p) available on the premium version. Another difference between both plans is the 15GB of high speed hotspot/tethering offered with Beyond Unlimited every month, compared to the 600Kbps speed cap that Go Unlimited subscribers experience for hotspot/tethering use.

However, Big Red is allowing Go Unlimited subscribers to match Beyond Unlimited users with one particular …

Samsung Australia reveals "Screen Assure" free Galaxy Note 8 screen repair; launch date August 25th?

So far, there has been some question about the Samsung Galaxy Note 8’s model number. For the most part, we have seen SM-N950 used to designate the unlocked version of the phablet. And while it really isn’t a major deal in the scheme of things, an inadvertent leak by Samsung Australia indicates that the model number of Sammy’s next high-end handset is actually SM-N940. That is the model number listed on the Samsung Australia website, which published information about a free screen repair for Note 8 users who break the display.

The “Screen Assure” promotion is being offered by Samsung Australia …

New Moto teaser reveals that the Moto Z2 Force will be unveiled on July 25th

Exactly one week ago today, we showed you an invitation that Motorola sent out for a July 25th event. While no phones were named, we mentioned the Moto Z2 Force and the Moto X4 as two models that could be unveiled by Motorola later this month. As it turns out, a teaser posted by Motorola today tells us in no uncertain terms that at least one of the models being announced will be the Moto Z2 Force.

The new teaser shows a couple of phones, both with shattered screens. Broken glass is all over the background and the tag line reads, “get ready to shatter your expectations.” That is actually …

Moto Z2 with Moto Mods surfaces on official Chinese Moto site; phone to be unveiled July 25th

An official Moto website in China has already posted an image of the Moto Z2 prior to the phone’s expected unveiling on July25th. While the phone does have a strong resemblance to the already available Moto Z2 Play, the Moto Z2 sports a dual camera setup on back unlike the single rear snapper on the Z2 Play. Similar to the original Moto Z, the Moto Z2 will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 (QHD).

Under the hood you will find Qualcomm’s current top-of-the-line Snapdragon 835 chipset. That means that the unit is driven by an octa-core CPU and the Adreno …

Motorola to hold July 25th new product unveiling event in New York City

Looks like Motorola will be unveiling at least one new phone in New York City around the end of the current month (July 25th to be exact). Invites sent out by the company say, “You won’t want to miss this,” and colored tunnels flash red, yellow, orange, pink and blue lights. We could see the Moto Z2 Force introduced (we recently got a peek at the AT&T version of the phone) along with the Moto X4. The latter might feature a dual camera-set up and an IP68 certification rating. That is a bit unusual for Motorola as the company usually relies on nano-coating fron P2i to protects a handset from …

BlackBerry 'Mercury' to be unveiled February 25th, according to teaser

We now know the date and time when BlackBerry is going to introduce the BlackBerry Mercury, according to a teaser that allegedly came from the company. Actually, the teaser itself looks legit especially because the BlackBerry Mercury name was not mentioned on it. While everyone has called the phone by that name, even BlackBerry, it is just a code name. The real name for the device should be announced when the phone becomes official.

So when will that be? The teaser shows that the last in-house phone to be designed by BlackBerry will see the light of day on February 25th, 2017. Mark the …
