Nokia steals the show to become the most mentioned brand at MWC 2018

HMD Global, the company that successfully revived the Nokia mobile phone brand, had a great Mobile World Congress (MWC). The Finns managed to score almost two dozen awards during the 4-day trade fair, more than it did last year at MWC.

Even though it faced fierce competition from Samsung, which unveiled the Galaxy S9 and S9+ the same day, HMD Global made quite a splash with its new lineup of Android smartphones and the Nokia 8110 4G aka the “banana phone.”

According to a survey published by Brandwatch in partnership with Twitter, Nokia was the most mentioned brand during MWC 2018, …

T-Mobile joins the 5G fray, announces super-fast network in 30 cities by the end of 2018

The Un-carrier has just announced plans to build 5G in 30 cities by the end of the year. T-Mobile customers in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas and Las Vegas will be among the first to experience super-fast speeds when the first 5G smartphones will be launched early next year.

Unlike AT&T and Verizon which said their first 5G devices will be pucks, not smartphones, T-mobile claims it will be focusing on “delivering a truly transformative 5G experience,” which is meant to work on actual smartphones.

T-Mobile has already started to deploy 5G-ready equipment and enable 5G low-band …

Asus ZenFone 5 (2018)

The ZenFone 5 is powered by Snapdragon 636, and two different tiers — 64 GB of storage + 4 GB of RAM or 64 GB of storage + 6 GB of RAM. At the front ZenFone 5 sports a 6.2-inch IPS screen with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The resolution we get is FHD+ (1080 x 2280) to make for some crisp imagery. In the camera department we have a dual setup on the back — a main 12 MP sensor with huge 1.4 μm pixels and a rather large lens aperture of F1.8 takes care for most scenarios. Then, there’s the secondary snapper with an 8 MP sensor and a 120-degree wide-angle lens for those larger-than-life shots. On the front, we’ve got an 8 MP selfie camera.

Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime 2018 may be introduced in the US

As the name suggests, Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime 2018 is a relatively new smartphone, but compared to the previous models it doesn’t really bring too many upgrades on the table. Initially introduced in India last month, the device may soon be launched in the United States.

Although Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime 2018 made its debut as an Amazon exclusive in India, we can’t say the same thing will happen in the United States as well.

However, we can confirm the smartphone was recently certified at FCC (Federal Communications Commission). Moreover, the Galaxy On7 Prime 2018 spotted at the US …

Huawei may soon launch its first Android Oreo Go Edition phone, the Y5 Lite (2018)

One of the few major handset makers that did not bring any new smartphones at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, Huawei is set to launch its first Android Go Oreo Edition phone.

If you’ve been following the MWC 2018 news, then you already know Alcatel, Nokia and ZTE have already announced their own Android Oreo Go Edition smartphones, which are expected to go on sale in the coming weeks. Huawei is likely to join them very soon with its own device called Y5 Lite (2018).

Google created Android Oreo Go Edition to allow smartphones with low-performance hardware to run the latest version …

MWC 2018 schedule of events: Here's when the Galaxy S9, S9+ and other devices will debut

Truth be told, CES 2018 was a bit lackluster due to the relative scarcity of exciting phones, but thankfully, MWC 2018 is just around the corner with the promise for tons of new intriguing devices coming our way. Truth be said, we have set up our hopes to 10 for that one and are really hoping that it will meet our expectations.

We’ve rounded all of the devices we anticipate top get unveiled at MWC ’18 in a separate post that’s available right here, but it will probably be quite useful to showcase the schedule of the trade show and help you catch the keynotes that might be of interest to …

Splash-resistant Apple AirPods 2 tipped to arrive later in 2018 with always-on Siri functionality

Word on the street is Apple is preparing a rather substantial second generation of its famed wireless AirPod earbuds. According to industry sources that refuse to be named (as usual), the second-gen AirPods that go by the model number B288 internally will be splash-resistant similarly to many of its more notable rivals on the wireless earbuds market.
Fully water-proof should probably not be expected yet, but resistance to splashes and sweat is probably just up Apple’s alley. The current iteration of the AirPods is unofficially quite capable of surviving short …

LG K8 and K10 2018 edition announced, to be shown at MWC 2018

With Mobile World Congress just a few days away, LG has announced the 2018 editions of its K10 and K8 budget-friendly smartphones. The company’s entry-level cell phone lineup gains a total of four new models and variations, all of which we expect to see in person at this year’s MWC expo.
LG describes the 2018-edition LG K8 and LG K10 as “enhanced with even more premium features rivaling those of premium flagships”. Still, the LG K-series is a budget-friendly one, so don’t expect anything fancy.
Design-wise, …
