Trump proposed an NFL boycott because irony means nothing in 2017

TwitterFacebook

Donald J. Trump, the 45th president of the United States, has explicitly asked football fans to give up on the National Football League “until players stop disrespecting our Flag & Country.”

In other words: He’s calling for a boycott.

If NFL fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting our Flag & Country, you will see change take place fast. Fire or suspend!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 24, 2017

…NFL attendance and ratings are WAY DOWN. Boring games yes, but many stay away because they love our country. League should back U.S.

Android handsets failed at twice the rate of iPhone units during Q2 2017

The latest State of Mobile Device Performance and Health report was just issued by Blancco Technology Group and it revealed that during the second quarter, one out of every four Android devices failed worldwide. That was more than double the 12% of iPhone models that failed globally during the same three month period. In North America, the gap was even wider with 24% of Android phones going down vs just 8% of iPhone handsets. Strangely, in Asia the numbers were reversed with 60% of iPhones failing versus 28% of Android flavored handsets.

From April through June, Samsung handsets accounted …

KGI cuts its Apple iPhone X shipping estimates for Q3 and all of 2017

Last month, KGI’s superb Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (who had the best iPhone X leak of the year back in February) predicted that Apple would ship 2 million to 4 million units of the Apple iPhone X during the third quarter. For all of 2017, Kuo said that Apple would deliver 45 million to 50 million iPhone X handsets. But now, after Apple has announced that the tenth anniversary iPhone model won’t ship until November 3rd, KGI (and presumably Ming-Chi Kuo) has made some changes to its forecast.

With pre-orders of the Apple iPhone X not beginning until October 27th, Apple will actually ship …

Verizon's Samsung Galaxy S5 receives update giving it the August 2017 security patch

The new software build to version MMB29M.G900VVRU2DQH2 brings the Android August 2017 security patch to the former flagship. In addition, the update fixes an issue that prevented the phone from connecting and pairing with some Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices.

When you receive the notification telling you that the update has arrived on your phone, before you start the process of downloading and installing it, make sure that your Galaxy S5 is connected to …

‘The Florida Project’ is the best 2017 movie that you haven’t heard of

TwitterFacebook

This world has never suffered from an overabundance of empathy. Even when we’re trying to be kind, we have a bad habit of falling back on judgment and condescension, of projecting our own issues and beliefs onto the decisions of others.

So when something like The Florida Project comes along, it feels all the more remarkable.

In his last film, Tangerine, director Sean Baker chronicled a night in the life of two trans sex workers, just blocks away but a world removed from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.
