Apple releases iOS 11.1 with 70 new emoji and several bug fixes

Today, the very day after Apple released iOS 11.2 containing SiriKit for HomePod developers, the company released iOS 11.1 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The update brings back the 3D Touch multitasking app switcher, a fix for the KRACK Wi-Fi exploit, improved support for braille devices, a fix that takes care of some issues that the Apple Watch had with data hand off, and most important of all, 70 new emoji.

The update to iOS 11.1 weighs in at 311.3 MB and still AWOL are Apple Pay Cash and AirPlay 2. The former allows users to make or receive peer-to-peer payments in iMessage. The …


Apple developers receive iOS 11.1 beta 4 and watchOS 4.1 beta 4

Apple today has pushed out the fourth beta versions of iOS 11.1 and watchOS 4.1, both made for developers’ eyes only. The public beta versions should be made available soon. Apple’s iOS 11.1 beta 4 update marks the return of the 3D Touch multitasking app switcher, which was added in beta 2 and removed in beta 3. Apple promised that there will be new emojis coming with the iOS 11.1 update, and delivered with the release of the second beta. There are no less than 59 new designs, while the first set was shown on World Emoji Day back in the spring, and included Woman with Headscarf, Bearded Person, Breastfeeding, Zombie, Person in Lotus Position, as well as new items in the food section like Sandwich and Coconut.
